This has been doing reasonably well in my local store. My concern is that this squad leads to somewhat long games, it's built around the idea of control and dodging sort of, and I fear that in a timed game this squadron won't be able to put out enough damage to gain the MOV needed. I believe it can win against a lot of squadrons, but not in time.

Given the fact that I HATE going before other ships in my boosty/rolly ships, is there anything I can do?

Why have EU on a ship that won't be able to use it after turn 1? I actually just won a winter tourney with almost this same list with only 1 of my games going to time. Your concern is real for certain, but a lot of it depends on how you fly and how your opponent flies. Swarms are a big fear for me with this list, but no one in my local meta flies them on a regular basis.

To echo my earlier sentiment though, drop EU, swap R5 for R2 on Poe, upgrade the Ion Cannon to TLT (more damage!) and that gives you 3 points. This would give you the int bid over the vast majority of imperial aces builds should you choose to leave it @ 97 points.

Concentrating fire and having the right approach to ensure multiple turns (you don't want to have to be spending multiple turns to turn around too often) of outgoing fire are going to be key to doing enough damage. In any event, those are just some ideas, take em' or leave em, but I will say I have had great success with this arch-type in general, it can definitely put out more than enough hurt with enough practice.

Good luck!

Thank you for the response. :) I don't have the title on the Y-Wing, so it only takes a single point when I use the droid and I've found I can slough that off easily enough. I like having EU on there, gives the Y-Wing a lot of options and I've caught quite a few of my opponents with that 1 bank boost. I won't lie, I've often thought about dropping it, adding TLT, and entering with a large bid. Will try it at least once.

I very much like R5 more than R2 on Poe. Just my flying style. I judge my local crowd to be quite good at judging opposing dials, and to be locked into greens (I know you aren't really locked, you can choose a large 3 turn with R2) can be fearsome. I'd almost rather have BB-8 than R2D2. Again though, that's just me and my local meta.

TLT does deliver more damage instead of monkeying around though....

R5 and R2 is really down to preference. R5 is great until you get stressed and can't focus. R2 still kicks in even if you bump on a green manoeuvre. The problem with getting locked into greens with R2 - is easily solved, just don't get hit, lol

You can use it to your advantage though, if you've dropped a shield your opponent would be expecting a green so why not delay recovering those shields and catch them out

That works until your local players get wise to it. Only do it when you know that doing a green will put you in a bad position. No point regenerating a shield with R2 only to have your opponent lay extra smackdown in the next round because you didn't get out of dodge. Equally, if you can do a green with low risk, then do the green.

I like the idea at the core of this list, and I'm working on something similar, but I don't have access to Stressbot so I'm using the R2 astromech. I find that it makes the Y wing incredibly versatile, and having an EU on it at that point really comes into its own if you're set on using it.

The R5P9/R2D2 choice really comes down to personal preference and I don't think one is inherently better than the other - just a matter of which synergy do you want. Personally I prefer R5P9 on a VI Poe because it works alongside his ability.
