General Rieekan?

Has anybody made a good use of this guy? I tried a 4x Corvette and MC30 list tonight. It wasn't horrible but for the same points I could get Mon Mothma, who would be a much better fit. And there lies the big issue. Rieekan versus Mothma is almost no contest for me. And the thought of using him over Ackbar with larger ships isn't appealing either.

So, does anybody use him?

I want to try a bunch of corvettes with engine tech and Riekan. I think it would be fun to shoot and then ram for a lot of damage a turn

I played this fleet to a win, and it was more fun than my ackbar setups, but be prepared to win 6-4 most of the time. Not as much punch as an ackbar list:

Since all my squads are named, they stay with Rieeken too. Ended up killing an ISD because of it.

I played this Rieekan list at a tourney a few weeks back. It has it's nuances that you have to be extremely patient with but man it packs a punch. With Haven coupled with Jan you can mitigate a ton of damage on the squads. Adar flipping someone back to unactivated such as Wedge with anti-squadron or Luke/Keyan depending on hull zones.....yeah I took on a Motti 3 ISD list, trashed one ISD quickly and had the second one down before the 3rd one scurried off relatively unscathed.

ive found hes decent with named squads, you dont need to build a list of light disposable ships, his ability lets you do perfect order activations where if a ship is going to die, you dont have to do it first, you can delay it till the right time.

but over all i think general MM might be better for swarms of smaller ships

Rieekan guarantees the one or two babbies that will eventually explode from fire will get their RAMMING done. Once you've taken down the enemy VIP ship, you can skedaddle and play keep-away for the rest of the game, guaranteeing a victory and probably getting a hit placed on you.

LOL, I've seen people playing a variant of this. I wouldn't order a hit on someone for it but would be mumbling a wish to Chobu to infect his backside with 1000 sand fleas that are extremely hungry.

Does ramming bypass shields?

yes ramming inflicts 1 face down damage card on each ship, so you would get 2 damage cards of both ships with a double ram,
