What is the hold up? X-wing news gets released on top of each other, but Armada hasn't had any real news since the release of Wave 2, and if you don't count that then we haven't had news since like October. So what's the deal? Is no new bad news for the game? Or is no news just sit and wait because they have some big things on the way?
No news for awhile....
/sigh. . . here we go again. . .
X-Wing Release dates:
Wave 1 was released at GenCon in 2012, that was August 16th
Wave 2 was released on February 28th (look at that it was over 6 months) while their Kessel Run event (same thing as our Sullust event) occurred in December. Oh to help you more, They previewed Wave 2 in September 2012.
Wave 3 was released on September 13th, WOW what a long wait there! You know. . . Wave 3 was not even announced until May 4th so that was 2 months from the time of Wave 2's release
Wave 4 was not even announced until February 7th! Talk about a wait and a half!
After wave 4, FFG started to really pick up its pace, in fact it announced waves, 5, 6, and 7 all in 2014. Hmmmm, personally I think you and all of those who are complaining need to settle down and look enjoy what we have so far.
FFG said that they regret releasing the wave 2 info so soon after wave 1 because it ended up taking longer to get wave 2 out than they anticipated. I wouldn't expect wave 3 info until maybe a month or two out from release. Honestly, I prefer it that way. No need to make wave 2 feel "old" when we're still just breaking into it, comparatively speaking.
Would I like an article from the developers? Sure, who wouldn't. But I don't think that not getting one is necessarily doom and gloom.

It is a bit out of the ordinary for FFG as every other FFG game I have collected they have news of the next release for the game before the most recent release.
Worst case: no more waves.

The Company has evolved since X-Wing wave 1 and 2 which is why I feel like it is more out of the ordinary now for Armada than it would be for X-Wing at the beginning. It just seems odd.
Worst case: no more waves.
If I could dislike I would.

Why do I get the feeling that people are forgetting that Armada is expensive to get into. That means less overall sales and thus FFG seems to be playing it cautious
Worst case: no more waves.
Actually, there was an interview at worlds where a designer said they had tarted work on wave 4, so that would be a pretty extreme worst case.

While I completely agree with your exasperation with people's impatience for announcements about the next wave and such, I think some folks just want to see some level of communication besides an FAQ update every once in a while. Even if it's just a tactics article. While you may have a nice timeline of announcements and releases for X-Wing, are you as sure about the daily article content during that time? Perhaps they still made some effort to at least be in touch with the player base. Perhaps they didn't, I wasn't playing X-Wing then.
Personally, I find that there is plenty of Armada content around the web for my tastes, so I don't need it from FFG specifically. I don't believe there is any chance of Armada support being canceled in the near future, as all signs point to it having done well in it's first year. I think the waves will move more slowly than X-Wing, and I am glad of that. But I don't think it's going away in the near future. The fiasco that was Wave 2 has likely made them even MORE cautious about putting information out too soon anyway!

They should cut the core set in half, imperial core set/rebel core set. It gets reduced to the price of Xwing core set. I'm pretty sure FFG planned on it being like a buddy-buddy thing where you and a friend split the cost, but the reality is that its been out almost a year and 2 waves have been released and most players already have a core set and people who are looking to get into the game I'm sure have decided which faction to play. Also it would be nice to have a Core set with expansions or even bundle Wave 1/2 together at a slightly discounted price (they save money on packaging and possibly shipping, E.G. Ace packs for Xwing). Theyre are countless things FFG can do to increase sales but they dont seem to be taking the appropriate steps and I understand that they should be cautious, but they're FFG! One of the most respected board game makers, their products will sell.

I think you nailed it on the head there. I realize there is a lot of content on the web, but for FFG just to acknowledge Armada would be nice. I mean whether they are basic strategy articles that an advanced player doesn't care much about, or all the way up to a new wave announcement, I think the reason I and others are anxious is because we just haven't seen the same or anywhere close to the amount of news that IA and X-Wing is getting. I fully understand the comparison that is trying to be made with the start of X-Wing and the start of Armada, but IA also started around the Armada time and they have like 20 expansions including two deluxe expansions in the time it took to get Wave 2 and now Armada has received nothing. Also, as I have said before. FFG was pretty basic before X-Wing which is why I would guess their news was lower at the start, but they are a big company now and owned by Asmodee which means they probably have people watch analytic data all the time so their news production I imagine is better now then it was in 2012.

IA has been out longer than Armada, actually. By a few months, if I'm not mistaken.
Armada has 12 expansions - but each one is a bigger production than an IA expansion, aren't they? At least the medium and large expansions for sure.
Fewer/slower releases are really what I'm hoping for. If they speed things up I won't have the money to stay competitive. Just my take. I know this isn't a concern for some people. If you can buy more than one or two complete waves a year(with a few doubles to stay competitive), good for you. I cannot.

Each model has a different style of getting releases out.
Wargame releases take longer and take more testing

QUICK, TOO SHAPEWAYS!!!!!!!!!!
IA is following their Living Card Game model of releases while Armada is following their Miniatures wargame model.

I figured there was probably a bigger difference as well, but I frankly don't know much about IA, so I wasn't positive what the difference would be, if it existed. Thanks for clarifying.

The information on that wiki is quite wrong. Wave 7 was announced in April 2015, I think wave 7 has the shortest announcement to release period (or is it wave 4?)

I stopped looking for the differences in length of time per release after I found the FFG was increasing release due to the exponential growth of the game.
Till that point I actually went through all of FFG's articles to find the length of time between announcements and release dates

Doesn't really matter now, what matters is that we are due to have an announcement. Don't get me wrong I really enjoy wave 2 but I also like having something to look forward to.
Man the poor folks that play Cosmic Encounter no new since September 2014. Here.
