By Spacenin, in X-Wing Squad Lists

So, theres a tourney coming up, and I recently got a lambda and a punisher. Tried this list against a poe list, and it dominated. Any thoughts, comments?

Firespray-31:

Krassis Trelix- 36

HLC- 7

Lambda:

Omicron- 21

Sensor Jammer- 4

Rebel Captive- 3

Intelligence agent- 1

Tie Interceptor

Royal Guard- 22

Stealth device - 3

PTL -3

Total: 100

The Lambda doesn't really add anything to the list at all AFAICT - nobody will want to shoot it, and it won't do anything terribly effective, so it'll just wallow around not doing much until the endgame at which point it will be unceremoniously slaughtered by much more agile opponents. You'd be better spending those points elsewhere, probably in making your interceptor into a proper ace (i.e. Soontir and add Royal Guard TIE and Autothrusters) and tooling Krassis up a bit more.

Actually, the Lambda trolled Poe Dameron, keeping him in a double stress lock and cancelling damage, while the other two go around set up for another run. I didn't end up losing a ship that game.

If your opponent was getting double stressed shooting at it, your opponent was messing up pretty badly somehow. It would be better to skip a shot entirely than get double stressed shooting something that's not unthreatening and easy to avoid.

Yeah, he was a pretty new player after looking back over his squad. But anyway, my plan for this squad was to have a flanker to get behind and do close range damage, a troller to cause stress and make it a pain to hit, and a heavy hitter to get the job done even at long range. I also wanted to make it easy to fly and flexible to losing a ship mid game. I have also clnsidered other builds if you are interested.

The reason I harped on it so much BTW was from experience having tried a similar thing with the TIE Shuttle - but with a Fleet Officer to make it a tempting target. The catch-22 didn't work, people just ignored the bomber until the end at which point it was almost entirely ineffective.

Having a shuttle or bomber shuttle around can work, but you have to make it scary enough to be worth targetting, e.g. put fleet officer/tactician or rebel captive/tactician - make it scary to attack and scary to ignore, or make itscary enough to distract from the rest of your list and eat some shots while your other ships have free reign.

Sometyhing that just wallows around having a lot of HP and not doing very much should be ignored by most tactically savvy players I would expect.
