I am playing around with Fab's Fleet on random to see what kind of silly things will happen and the following came up, which is the following list below. Now my question is would a naked MC80 ever be a something you could field or is that crazy (yes the list is Random)?

If you're taking an MC80, they tend to work very well as your flagship. I'd also never take an MC80 anywhere without ECM. 7 points to live a lot longer? yes please. Other than that, I don't think there's any other "mandatory" upgrades, although X17 Turbolasers tend to be a pretty popular pick. And gunnery teams too.

So, no. I'd never run a naked MC80, you just wouldn't be getting its full potential.

Running an MC80 with Gunnery Teams is a Tsk Tsk moment...

The only upgrade being the ECMs, maybe... But I tend to run fairly barebones most days...

Sometimes even two Naked MC80s.

My MC80's never leave port without ECMs, X17s, and Leading Shots. If I only get one shot from that massive broadside it has to hit and it has to hit well.

then spice one up with some independance and a side of adar.

I haven't run any naked either. They're enough of a point-sink naked that I usually don't feel guilty about adding something small like Boosted Comms (to a Command) or the Defiance title, if nothing else. ECMs, Home One, Independence, Xi7s are usually in the running, too, depending on what the rest of the fleet looks like.

I think back when GenCon was running we wondered whether upgrades on ships were mandatory and came to the conclusion that while a basic ship is good, the effectiveness of a fleet is higher and more efficient when upgrades are involved. Because they add so much to the role of the ship

Espeically large ships like that, they can carry multiple upgrades and not put them at much risk, so they're a good investment in that sense

For the MC80 Assault, I wouldn't leave it without at least ECM, Redundant Shields (in a Garm build) or Enhanced Armament (in an Ackbar build).

MC80 without ECM and without Engine Techs heck why no title card? At the very least ECM

I think you at a minimum need to put on ECM!

Think the community has said overwhelmingly that EA is not worth the points, but part of me thinks it might be on a VSD with dominator to protect the flank(s), not on a Mon though. If you where tempted as rebels put it on you AF to give it more punch. Need to spread the punch out over your fleet and not concentrate it on one ship.

ET is not mandatory by any means, but for one would I not leave home without them.

I think you might want to use Fab's fleet generator ....it is more than a resource. You click on items and it adds them to your fleet and upgrades have a scroll down menu etc. it does all the calculations for you and shows you exact what is and is not available and how many points you have left. Definitely, worth the switch.

ECM and a title are my minimums. ECM is needed for it to survive in this wave, and the mc80 is too point inefficient to take without one of their superb titles. Without the titles, I'd rather take mc30s or AFIIs.

I run mine without ECM: just Home One, Ackbar, Lando. (with 3x AFIIB w/Gunnery Team)
