I'm almost certainly misreading the tournament rules but...

Apologies guys, I've been out of the tournament scene since last May and so am just trying to catch up. Was reading the latest version of the tournament FAQ and want to confirm that I'm misunderstanding something.

Simply put, page 3 seems to say that big ships only get tallied as half points for margin of victory but NOT for determining whether or not you won the match. Is that correct? Has it been that way for the past several months? For some reason I had it in my head that you counted it as half points for the purpose of determining the winner on a timed match and for MOV, but again just haven't been following the tournament scene for the better part of a year.

Apologies for the obvious query. Any overview as to the current meta would be helpful as well.

this has been addressed by both Frank Brooks and Alex Davy. both of them have stated that it is an error, and that nothing has changed. big ships still count as half for both scoring the game, and MOV.

This has been determined to be a clarification that made things muddier. Half MoV counts for both. I expect a new re-clarification soon.

Meta? Wide open. PHeaver won for the third year in a row, and did so with two Y-wings, a Z-95 and Poe Dameron. Imperial Aces backed by Emperor Palpetine is popular, so too are Brobots.

These are far from the only ships out there; were there anything approaching dominance good ol' Soontir, and Poe with VI, are certainly proving popular. Quad TLT Y-wings is often feared, and does very well, but still doesn't actually physically show up as much as people feared. It's definitely a list you want to build around killing, though.

It's proving more about flying ships well than flying the right build, though, and that's pretty impressive. Just make sure you've built to handle TLTs, and to handle high-mobility aces, and to kill endgame regen, and you're golden.

Yes, that's quite a few things to plan for. That's what makes it fun. ;)

Do you have a link?

Thanks guys, knew something must have been up.

Thanks as well for the meta thoughts. Does Fat Han or Super Dash still show up, or are they banished from the meta?

They still show up, though in smaller numbers than they did previously. Good players that like those ships still do well with them.

Which is how it should be, of course. :)
