I seriously hope that FFG drops their irrational hate for everything associated with the prequels. I don't really understand why they would rather produce stuff from random books and comics over stuff that actually appeared on screen, in a movie, and is unique. Why would you rather the Rebels get a two-nosed Neb-B instead of, say, a Munificent cruiser?

Honestly the true makeup of the Rebel fleet is something that is sketchy at best. Most people assume it's Mon Cal's, Neb B's, GR75, CR90's and that is it...from what they saw in the movies. However they would use whatever they could get their hands on.
If we roll on that concept, I'd honestly think they should have clone wars era Venators (due to being abandoned?), Assault Frigate MK1's, Banking Clan frigates, the Commerce Guild Destroyer, and the modified Providence.
To be honest, there are 3 ships in my mind that should be both factions: Nebulon B, Venator, Dreadnaught.
Heck, at least one older novel(so I don't know its current canonicitycity) gave the Rebels a Lucrehulk. Talk about your fleet carrier...

I wouldn't mind seeing some prequel ships, but prefer most of the expanded universe stuff simply because I grew up with them. If FFG provides the same ships SW:Rebellion did I'm happy. The only issue I have with the prequel ships is that they are all horribly overpowered compared to the later Rebellion-era ships, but that doesn't matter for the aesthetics.
Edited by Lord TareqPoe's Xwing?
The problem with miniatures for poe's xwing is that at armada sizes the differences between a t-65 x-wing and a t-70 x-wing are almost to hard to see.
It's True .... No painting
Just have to paint up poe's x-wing and a couple generic blue t-70's I suppose, who'll know the difference. ![]()

Prequel ships would be nice, maybe that would introduce two new factions, Republic and CSA? Imagine the fun of running a group of republic star destroyers with a couple squads of arc fighters against the the might of a pair of ISDs. Fun. ![]()
This is my very short and not so speculative list:-
- Winged MC80 Cruiser
- Interdictor Star Destroyer (either the SD class or the smaller and now canon Immobilizer class)
Other ships on my wishlist:-
- Mark I Assault Frigate ( I prefer this design)
- Imperial Strike Cruiser
- Carrack Cruiser (now canon too)
Assault Frigate mk1, that's all I want, anything else is just gravy.
Judging by the new Star Wars: Rebels trailer I would bet we would see the Quasar Bulk Cruiser (aka Alliance Escort Carrier...that sounds better!) at some point:

I think you guys are struggling. There may not be a lot left to release but the game is still fun and future "releases" can focus on cards, which would encourage more ship purchases.
erm... i dont play the game at all.... (no time due to work
)
I only adore the GREAT MINIATURES ![]()

Please for the love of god no.
The rebels have the weak Neb B and this...this would be an easy kill considering that massive open fighter bay. The rebels real carriers are their Mon Cal cruisers, or launching from attached ships pre-battle like the Assault Frigate MK 1, jumping into battle detached from the mother vessel.
The more I think about it, I wonder how an Imperial Venator would work? I imagine the massive flight deck down the center would be removed considering TIE's cannot launch without racks (at least in the cannon?)

Incorrect.
Canon as provided by Star Wars Rebels shows TIEs can take off themselves...
Like it or not, its Canon.
For the Empire:
Scaled down Eclipse class (yes it's not canon but let's face it, it's the only way we will see these awesome ships in the game)
Scaled down Executor class
Interdictor 418
The imperial escort carrier from rouge squadron 3 was a cool design
Imperial Venator
TIE Avengers
TIE Defenders
For the Rebels:
Liberty type Mon Cal
Liberator class (from PC game Rebellion)
Dauntless class (as above)
Bulwark class (as above)
Assault Frigate Mk1

I forgot all about the Bulwark...that'd be a real carrier right there.
To borrow a quote from some one else: If we can have a guy that became iconic in the Star Wars universe where he appears just a few times, has 5 lines of dialog one of them "AAAAHHHHHHHH" then that shadow the you can see at the 1:42:33.23 frame of the movie is cannon enough to wack that ship into a wave down the line.
So if Pablo Hidalgo says it is all OK, I say bring it on.
Ships id like to see,
Imperial:
CR92a Assassin class corvette
Strike Cruiser
Interdictor 418
Ton-Falk-class escort carrier
Nebulon-B2 frigate
Enforcer-class picket cruiser ( as an alternative card to the 418)
Praetor Mark II-class battlecruiser
Bellator-class Star Destroyer(maybe)
Tie Avenger
Tie Defender
Phantom Tie
XG-1 Star Wing Assault Gunboat
Rebel:
MC40a Light Cruiser
Dreadnought
Modified Strike cruiser (from X-wing vs tie fighter when the rebels stole gravity well projectors)
Nebulon B-2
Dauntless class cruiser
DP20 (otherwise known as the Corellian gunship)
Z-95
T-wing
E-wing
No idea how practical a Bellator would be, but I think the list of things I'd do for an FFG Bellator model is very long and disturbing...
Oh yeah, forgot the sort of TIE Scimitar Bomber & the rebel command ship from the rebels cartoon- Pelta class?
I'd bet good credits we'll see these old KOTOR throwbacks as a new Rebel small base ship, hopefully alongside the Imperial Arquitens

My question is what role would they fill? cheaper, smaller, less powerful corvettes? super heavy fighters? what?
The Arquitens is easy, its the imp version of the neb b. A long range, light ship with out the multi tool like abilities of a Vic or the specialization of a Glad.
The Pelta class is similarly easy to give a role to, its a command 1,squadron 2 ship with lighter weapons in the price range of a corvette. Think the 'baby flattop' CVEs from ww2.

They're larger than the 'vette.
Off-hand, I'd say sturdier than the CR90 and the (very) fragile MC30 with more mid-range firepower. We've yet to see any ships with a blue-die specialization, but that's just spitballing. Maybe something more analogous to a Gladiator, but with a wide-front arc rather than broadside profile.
Must.....have.....Venator....

The MC30 may be fragile, but it's huge - estimated 580m.
As for ships like the Praetor II and the Bellator - once you start getting into ships 3-4 times the length of an Imperial-class, it starts being prohibitively large (even with the non-linear scale Armada uses). - with it really making more sense to have an "epic scale" game.
The ships from the new Rebellion game, set on proper Armada-like bases - might be a good starting point for an "Epic Armada" game.
