Can we go to the store and pre-pay for this Tourney?
Can we register via phone or email?
Can we preregister?
Sadly,
they are not taking pre-registration. ![]()
Here is a link to the stores event page; details for the event are listed under the 23rd

The table space they have available is the big limitation on size, so arrive early to guarantee your spot if you are interested in playing at this event.
Looking forward to making the most of it!
I heard that they have a full list already at store location for this tournament (Jan 23rd).
Do stores have to iterate how much space they have as part of their application to FFG?

They have a list at the store. It required a trip to the store and leaving you name & phone number (walk-ups only). I got on the list inside of the 16 (I went there last Wed, Jan 13th) but soon after I heard it was full. I talked to some one at the store and apparently they only have room for 8 playmats as it will take place inside the mall public space.

Does anyone know if the store is working on opening up more spots or if they're committed to just 16?
Short of finding a venue offsite, there would be no other way to do it.
The store is in a major community shopping mall. They have a small retail space and then pay for an area out in the mall common area for tables for gaming. Unlike Mall 25 or 30 years ago, every square foot of space that can be rented out in a mall (even the common areas) are, with kiosk style businesses. Because of this, they had to pay for the area in the common space to set up their tables or risk the space being rented out to a kiosk business of some sort (probably cell phone cases, sunglasses, or rows of swimsuit calendars).
So they determined the maximum amount 3x3 mats they could fit on the tables so players could comfortably and reasonably expect to play and that's it. 8 total 3x3 playing areas for 16 players.

This, exactly...
Echoseven, will you have an experienced Xwing TO running the event?
Also, I hope that the store is stocked up on Core Sets. I see this as a unique Store Championship in which the venue is so public with LOTS of passers-by that are not familiar with Xwing or even miniatures gaming. Heck, there are going to be thousands of people passing by that are on the mall and we're not even planning to visit Uncle's. IF the tourney can even get 1 or 2 percent of them to stop and look, and maybe even walk into the store and ask about "that Star Wars game they are playing" it's a win-win for everyone involved. I hope that you are able to have a store staff member dedicated and available to answer questions of those passers-by who stop to watch. This is a great opportunity to showcase the game we all love.
I am privileged to be a part of it and take it on myself to be a positive represetative of the local and regional Xwing community.
Maybe I'll be a passerby.
Anybody have a report on how this tourney went?
Richard won. Peta (sp?) was the TO and did an excellent job. The store provided him some ships to give out as additional prize support.
Personally it was my worst effort in the last 6 tournaments. I went 2-2. Really felt I should have went 3-1. But I played Richard and he looked to be nearly flawless on the day. The final game that determined 1st & 2nd was epic.

Thanks for the feedback!
Would have to agree that Richard seemed to be in complete control throughout the event; a very strong performance by the days Store Champion.
Good mix of players though, ace fighters and newer pilots alike. Great attitudes and ambassadors for the game in what was a very public venue.
Hope everyone who turned out had a good time and thank you for making the Uncles Tacoma first Store Championship a success! ![]()
