How to defeat 2 IG list using empire?

By peter23, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hi,

I would want to know which would be the best empire lists to defeat 2 x IG scum lists.

I hope you can help me :-)

Thank you!

done it fine with bombers, because fixed h-missiles with perfect hits (almost always with either mod) hurt.

Tie/FO O Leader and (unreleased) Inquisitor also hit past their defensive modifications. Crackshots always nice

otherwise, PS 8-9s.

Outside of that, brobots hate obstacles (they have fat asses) and stress (no red maneuvers)

Fel, Whisper, Vader just things that can stay out of their arc pretty well.

A TIE swarm can dismantle them pretty quickly. Green dice can only keep you alive for so long.

True. In my first round of my first store championship, one of my Aggressors got focused on by a TIE swarm. He survived the round with only 1 hull point remaining. I then went on to dismantle the entire swarm without losing either Agressor. If he had predicted my movement correctly, it would have been over, but Aggressors can be tough to catch.

Thank you for your answers! :-)

Fel+Carnor+Vader could be a good list to win against 2 IG-88?

The problem is that it is not an easy list for a noob like me... :-(

yes but only if you are practiced with them and stress resistan, yourself

if you are shot by the modern, crackshot brobot, you are in for a world of hurt with those ships

I find the opposite----IG88B is particularly good at destroying swarms. Killing the first of two is usually not the hard part, but if you only have 3 (maybe even 4) ships left against the 1 remaining IG88, its almost impossible to win by that point.

I actually find Darth Vader (particularly with lone wolf, engine + ATC) very good at killing IG88s.

best way to beat anything with the empire is to not be in opponents arc, while having shots of your own. its what the empire is best at. (see Phantom, Interceptors, Vader ect.)

my favorite list at the moment is

Vader 34-38

Crackshot

Prockets

title (ATC)

Chimps (soon )

(or EU if you want just drop Prockets.)

fel (35)

PTL AT SD

Omega leader (29)

Comms Juke SD (Sd to make him/her even more annoying)

even with VI you move after them so you can effectively almost never get shot

Being a long time IG player myself, I am most threatened by any hard hitting aces that can dodge arcs. Vader with EU or Super Soontir. I imagine Crackshot swarm would be pretty potent too, if you can swarm and force bumps and loss of actions.

I guess there's enough variation to the swarm nowadays to need clarification.

The list that dismantles me on the regular is

Zeta Leader

Omega Leader

Epislon Leader

Zeta Ace

Howlrunner

all that can take crackshot do so.

At a recent tournament I had a great deal of success against Brobots using the following list:

Darth Vader — TIE Advanced 29 Predator 3 Advanced Targeting Computer 1 Engine Upgrade 4 TIE/x1 0 Ship Total: 37
Juno Eclipse — TIE Advanced 28 Push the Limit 3 Advanced Targeting Computer 1 Twin Ion Engine Mk. II 1 TIE/x1 0 Ship Total: 33
Omicron Group Pilot — Lambda-Class Shuttle 21 Emperor Palpatine 8 Ship Total: 29

Vader and Juno were excellent at staying outside of arc on the Bros. IG-2000 can be somewhat predictable ANYTIME they get into the corners, but I was able to use my OGP with Palpatine as bait to make my opponents movements even more predictable.

You won't necessarily bleed down an IG-2000 in one turn with this list, but you will be able to force your opponent into making gradually more predictable moves.

Juno doesn't necessarily have the pop of some of the other Imperial aces available, but her pilot ability makes her PERFECTLY suited to adjust her speed to stay outside of Brobot arcs, hence my preference for her over non-Soontir aces.

Whisper can smash them, Vader, Punishers with dual cluster and maybe the Firespray with Outmaneuver.

The key to beating any brobot list is blocking and stress. If they can't S/K, they become remarkably easy to block, especially if you have a large base ship.

So, from an empire perspective, Rebel captive on anything, Mara Jade on a phantom (so you can get close enough), Darth Vader crew. Anything with crackshot will help strip those valuable hulls away. Generally, you want to be R!, as that tends to negate the HLC second shot at least.

Generally, block and stress them and they go down pretty quick.

[edit] Aside from the arc dodging that is.

So which list would you recommend at this moment for a not experienced empire pilot against brobots?

I dont have bombers :-(

Thank you for all the anwers!

And a question for all.

Which one of those lists do you think would work against brobots?

Soontir + Vader + Palpatine: 100 points

Darth Vader, Tie/X1, Advanced Targeting Computer, Engine Upgrade, ?? (which elite? We have 2 points here)

Soontir Fel, Push the Limit, Red Guard Tie, Stealth Device, Autothrusters

Omicron Group Pilot, Emperor Palpatine

Soontir + Carnor + Vader: 100 points

Soontir Fel, Push the Limit, Red Guard Tie, Stealth Device, Autothrusters

Carnor, Push the Limit, Red Guard Tie, Stealth Device, Autothrusters

Darth Vader, Tie/X1, Advanced Targeting Computer, Crack shot --> the problem is that Darth Vader doesn't have EU here.

Any other lists?

Thank you!

Either of those lists could work fine against aggressors. Your first list is probably the stronger of the two. Popular Elite card for Vader is VI. I prefer Lone Wolf. Some people really like Juke on Vader since its new and shiny.

I crushed a Brobots list without losing a hull point with a Vader, Howlrunner, crackshot swarm list. Vader tanked the first volley on his shields, and then B vanished under all the laserfire. After that I blocked C's K-turn to stress him in the wrong direction, and that was all she wrote.

Just got a 3-0 against Brobots yesterday with this:

FfzsJG8.jpg

twin decimators...... Oicunn rams and blocks as he moves before them. Chiraneau moves after them and boosts into range 1-2 using predator re roll can converting 1 eye to a crit. works great against and multi large ship set up

Rear Admiral Chiraneau
VT-49 Decimator, Unique
When attacking at Range 1-2, you may change 1 of your eye.png results to a critical.png result.
Predator (3)
Rebel Captive (3)
Engine Upgrade (4)
44 points
Captain Oicunn
VT-49 Decimator, Unique
After executing a manoeuvre, each enemy ship you are touching suffers 1 Damage.
Intimidation (2)

Hi

I have played against this list using palpmobile, soontir and vader.

And its really difficult to defeat...

+ Heavy Laser Cannon (7)

+ Glitterstim (2)

+ IG-2000 (0)

Run Whisper with Rebel Captive and you should be good to go! A shuttle with palp would help. Use the shuttle to block.

Good Luck
