Tie Advanced Prototype - Where do you see it most effective?
I'm just not too enthusiastic about yet another Low HP, Low Attack, High Agility ship for the Empire. I'll still buy one because I have a problem, but I'll probably stop at one. I'm sure we will see a lot of the Inquisitor and the other named pilot, but I'm not sure what the generics bring to the table that a TIE F/O does not.
Frankly, I'm more excited about the cards that come wit it than the ship itself.

Have the same problem! ![]()
It is just a good looking ship...nothing more...
I think the inquisitor with juke and title would work pretty well, but yeah unless you can swarm it the average 2 attack dice ship isnt worth it
Inquisitor and Rudor look like they will be alot of fun.
I dont understand the hype about the generics though.. they are basically A-wings, are they not?
Can't see it being anything but the inquisitor, most likely ptl + title + thrusters
Unless the PS 4 has an ept for juke and can compete with Juke FOs, but I doubt they will.
The Tie/fo has more than fulfilled my expectations; there isnt much the TAPs can do to compete there. On the ordnance end, I'd rather use bombers
Chiraneau
-Emperor Palpatine
-Rebel Captive
-Predator
-Engine Upgrade
Darts Vader
-Title
-Advanced Targeting Computer
-Veteran Instincts
-Engine Upgrade
This is what I usually run on mine and it has turned out to be fairly effective. It sacrifices more defensive upgrades for more offensive output.
I'm still new to the game, but don't see much use to it other than buying it for Guidance chips
I'm looking forward to running the following lists:
99 Pts
Prototype w/title x4
Inquisitor, title, ptl, autothrusters
99 Pts
Prototype w/title x2
Inquisitor, title, ptl, autothrusters
Vessery, x7 title, wired
100 Pts
Prototype w/title x5
Epsilon squadron
I was thinking that this might be a very good list:
5x Sienar Test Pilot (TIE/v1 title, Guidance Chips and Proton Rockets)
100 Pts
(or substitute one procket for a XX-23 S-Thread tracers, and initiative bid).
What do you think?

A single ace will give you a REAL hard time unless you manage to block it consistently. The Tie Adv Prototype has the tools to do it, but it won't be easy. Get the tracers to help pass out free evades.

Trouble with that is the Title card gives you TL + Evade but PRockets need a Focus to fire.
You could TL + Evade Turn 1 and then Focus on Turn 2 but you have you get your manoeuvres exactly right. You won't be able to Boost or Barrel roll to ensure you have Range 1 and arc for the PRs if you are focussing.
It is not a bad list but I find PRs hard to use on a low PS ship.
I like the list in the OP. A solid ace plus miniswarm is a good archetype. I wonder if the 6 points in Autothrusters might be better spent elsewhere, though. Whisper with Sensor Jammer is already going to be very strong against TLTs, and she's the primary target right now. Autothrusters aren't going to make those v1s much more survivable, or useful. You want something that will punish the other squad for going after Whisper, or draw heat from Whisper.
You could increase all those pilots to PS4, making it easier for them to get TLs on stuff, and making the most of their maneuvers against normal PS2 stuff. You could do a Concussion Missile and 2 tracers, both to boost their own attacks and Whisper's. You could do a couple of Proton Rockets. I'm not sure of the best option, but my gut says that offense will do you more good than defense on those guys.
I think that if you're going to use Prockets the best EPT to use is VI or maybe Outmaneuver, but you cut out the potential of The Inquisitor, that seems for me tied to PTL, but maybe if you use the generics with VI you can use Prockets in the easrly stages of the game, just when you need them since this ships are low PS.
Edited cause i mindfucked

Yeah, all very valid points. And I would agree the Autothrusters are not adding very much to the list. (I was more just excited I could put Autothrusters on a ship other then the interceptor
)
I'm hoping the Baron has a EPT - These guys would make great little Juke platforms. However, they will probably be too expensive to add 3 to the list with Juke + TIE/v1.
I know your a busy guy on the forums (I have read and seen a lot of your posts) so I appreciate the time you took to pick apart the list.
Thanks!

Edited - Completely forgot about Guidance Chips! ...Guess I forgot my coffee yesterday morning. May drop Agent Kallus for more Ordnance (Possibly, Cluster/Concussion, Homing, and Tracer?) I was originally concerned about taking Tracers and Prockets - However, with closer inspection of XX-23 S-Thread Tracers, it will proc the TIE/v1 title for everyone, so I can free up my actions to use focus. It is going to take some play testing to figure out which Ordnance configuration is best - and if Kallus is a staple for this build or not.

I was thinking along these lines: normally focus with everyone, then fire Tracers in the pitch and shoot prockets at highest value target.
I'm really looking forward to using the Inquisitor as a budget PS10 ace hunter. VI+Thrusters+Title makes him slot pretty dang well into a Whisper+Palp list.

New list may look like this now that adaptability was revealed:
Little worried about the lower PS - could drop sensor for FCS and pick up VI. with a 99 pt bid.
I'm curious how the Sienar could work as a blocker alongside 4 Accuracy Corrector Tempest Squads. Basically replace Dark Curse from AC/DC with a PS2 TAP. I hope to christen this list:
TAP that Acc.
Sienar Test Pilot (16)
Little worried about the lower PS - could drop sensor for FCS and pick up VI. with a 99 pt bid.
"Whisper" (32)Adaptability (+1) (0)Sensor Jammer (4)Advanced Cloaking Device (4)Sienar Test Pilot (16)Advanced Homing Missiles (3)Guidance Chips (0)TIE/v1 (1)Sienar Test Pilot (16)Advanced Homing Missiles (3)Guidance Chips (0)TIE/v1 (1)Sienar Test Pilot (16)Advanced Homing Missiles (3)Guidance Chips (0)TIE/v1 (1)Total: 100
I really like that build! However, there is something I HIGHLY recommend, Intelligence Agent. I love how the Seinar Test Pilots can break through high regeneration builds, but they would work better if you had more knowledge of the opponents' maneuvers. Sacrificing one Advanced Homing Missile for a Tracer could help a ton.
I'm defiantly on board with the "New Palp Aces" vibe
Inquisitor + Autothrusters + Title + VI 29
Omicron Group Pilot + Emperor Palpatine 29
Whisper + VI + ACD + FCS + Agent Kallus 41
and if your willing to forego the 1 point initiative bid, dumping a Baffle on the shuttle can create some really interesting situations
You remember those control lists that would pack an ion cannon or two and then Procket A-wings to capitalise on the enemies misfortune the following turn?
...Procket TAPs are a point cheaper and a PS higher while packing the same weapon. And Defenders just became popular Ion Cannon carriers, to say nothing of the possibilities with Tractor Beams.
