Rouge One Trailer

By Sir Orrin, in X-Wing

It will have to do with Rogue Squadron. Just the first iteration. Squads aren't made up of the same group of people, they are not tied to one person. Rogue One was not Wedge during the time of ANH, which this movie takes place before.

I'm so excited for a Star Wars movie that focuses on the Soldiers, the everyman, with a female lead and two awesome martial artist from fame in "The Raid".

Rogue Squadron was formed by Luke and Wedge, there is no way a movie that takes place before Luke joins can be about it.

I don't know if the formation of Rogue Squadron by Luke and Wedge is canon - I don't recall hearing the exact name in any film - but the name is a clear reference to TESB. So it follows that there will be a connection.

Rogue Squadron appeared in The Empire Strikes Back. It was the name of the Snowspeeder group that Wedge and Luke were both a part of in the Battle of Hoth.

I don't think you read my message very well. Perhaps you want to look up the word 'exact'?

Or you don't understand the word "exact".

Right around the 2:50 mark: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HgY3rOOascY

This is actually the SECOND time "Rogue" is mentioned as a call sign for the Snowspeeder pilots. The first time is when "Rogue 2" is looking for Luke and Han.

I read you post. Perhaps you meant to confer an idea that you did not actually get across with the words that you typed.

Rogue Squadron was formed by Luke and Wedge, there is no way a movie that takes place before Luke joins can be about it. I'd be super excited if it had any other title. I don't even think we're going to see space fighters beyond maybe a few ties.

Unfortunately, that's just not true anymore. The origin of Rogue Squadron has never been discussed in an "official" source, so the idea that Luke, Wedge, Zev Senesca, Hobbie, Janson, and Dak Ralter formed the first Rogues isn't necessarily the case anymore. Moreso, there's no actual proof that the Rogue designation is even reserved for a squadron, as the only squadrons seen in the OT are called Red, Gold, Blue and Green. The snowspeeders could be considered a ground unit, and in fact the only line that refers to the Rogues references "Rogue Group" not squadron. While "Group" has squadron references as well, there's no guaranty that it isn't used as a ground warfare designation.

Read what I actually wrote: the title - apologies if you really thought I meant anything but 'Rogue One' here, but come on, what else could it be? - is a clear reference to TESB. The title is a clear reference to TESB. Why do you think I wrote that? Because I heard 'Rogue 2' plain and simple, like anybody else. So it stands to reason that they're connected in some way. But the addition of 'squadron' is something made up outside of the films. The movie gives no explanation why they use the callsign.

THANK YOU, FUNKLETON. THANK YOU THANK YOU A MILLION TIMES THANK YOU.

I caught part of that film late one night - probably something like 20 years ago - and even with the help of the internet I was never able to discover the name... (the only thing I remembered about it was the Blue Star)

It looks even more craptastic than Saturn III. I will add it to my guilty watching list for when my wife is away.

Rouge One? Is that a prequel to Priscilla Queen of the Desert ?

Nope, it's the French version of the biopic "Garven Dreis: My Life Before I Became A Smear On The Death Star".

Is that the film which was released alongside "Davish Krail: I Stayed On Target"?

I believe the full version is available on Youtube.

And yes, it is incredibly bad.

In actual military useage, the flight controller can literally say "Okay, you guys are now callsign Rogue." Tactical callsigns like that usually change daily to confuse enemy eavesdropping. There are several different callsigns an aircraft can use, depending on the situation: an everyday one (like "Victory"), a NATO one (usually two letters and digits, like a flight number say VV1234 for a US Navy flight) and then there's the actual name of the squadron like VFA-143, Pukin Dogs, radio callsign "Taproom."

Just thought I would post this......And yes, I know this is about Rogue One.

Darth Vader confirmed in Rogue One ! :)

No confirmation if its the Sith Lord in that Bacta tank in the trailer.

Anybody considered the possibility the movie hasn't anything to do with Rogue Squadron and the protagonist is just a rogue one? :P

(Don't take me too seriously)
