2016 Store Championship Results

Stop with the crazy lists!!!! I don't have time to test them all out. Or money to get all the required ships (looks at Quad K).

Board Game Barrister Bayfield (Wisconsin)

Highlights

Top 4 after Swiss

1. 4 TLT Scum Y-wing (5-0)

2. Soontir, Vader, Zertik Strom (4-1, highest MoV of the day 814, me)

3. Wedge, Bandit, Stressbot Gold, Tactician Blue, eventual winner)

4. Whisper, Soontir, Zeta Leader

Matchup was 3v4 and 1v2 (because 1 had played 3 and 4 already, we were unsure if the not playing someone if possible still applied so we just went with it)

Personally I didn't pay much attention to the 3v4 game, in the 1v2 game, it was a 2hp Soontir vs 2 full HP Y-wings, and a damaged one and it ended up with only a 2 hull Y-wing left alive who got Soontir after a poorly judged BR that ended up putting them barely in range instead of out, and Soontir thinking he was safe neglected to push the limit for an evade+focus after the BR (or should have just not BRed)

The Top Cut is highest vs lowest seed and a psuedo-new tourney, so they should have played each other again, but *shrug* may not have changed anything.

I won a store championship with Boba, VI, Slave 1, Extra Munitions, Proton Bombs, Homing Missiles, Engine Upgrade, Weapons Engineer and Vader with VI, X1, ATC, Engine Upgrade, Proton Rockets.

It's 97 points. So when I face someone also with PS 10 they're automatically given initiative. 2 point initiative bid? That's cute.

An opponent of mine forgot about my proton bombs. Got a direct hit on his Vader through shields. Next game we face each other in the elimination phase and he forgets again. Full health Echo takes a direct hit, and Vader takes one from the proton bomb. We're not going to let him forget about that one haha.

Prockets on PS 11 engines Vader carry so ******* hard. "and that's 5 hits".

I'll get around to posting the top 4.

Grats dude!

And I'm just sitting here, scrolling in vain hopes to find places where joustwing isn't dead yet...

Get ready to have your minds blown....

The first of three store champs in the Knoxville area was won by a list that had both Guri and Xizor in it.

I'll post the results sometime tomorrow

Mate, some of our recent winners have been a Juke HWK, Imperial Boba, quad K-wings, and a generic Phantom. At this point a Scyk swarm could win and I don't think anyone would be phased by it.

And I'm just sitting here, scrolling in vain hopes to find places where joustwing isn't dead yet...

"Your meta's dead, son. Accept it."

Then come join us in this madhouse.

The top seed had played the 3 and 4 in swiss so the TO mixed it up. I was flying the wedge y b and z list. Wearing my "antilles school of flight" and carrying a wedge action figure for good luck I took home the win :-)

Yeah, if it was done the other way there was still a good chance it would have been the same final two because I feel I would have struggled with avoiding the Stressbot AND the Blue, but heck the 4TLT list match up looked rough on paper too but I almost pulled that one off so who knows

I'm assuming you're andrew.(and if I forgot your name I'm so sorry lol, I had a lot to drink after) I'm not gonna lie, I wanted to play you real bad compared to quad tlt. I like my chances whenever soontir doesn't have vader or a Phantom with him. I think the only reason I pulled it out is conditioning, tourney fatigue definitely was getting to kevin, I was sneaking snacks in between every round and I think I had six bottles of water on the day. I'm glad you made the trip down man and good luck to ya through the rest of your season!

Hollow Mountain in East Lansing, MI

25 players, 5 rounds Swiss, cut to Top 4

1st (me) 5-0 swiss, 880 MoV (boo half point big ship rule, makes me look less cool :P )

Whisper + VI + FCS + ACD

Captain Oicunn + Predator + Ysanne + Palpatine + Engine

100 pts

2nd (Ethan) 4-1 swiss

Poe + VI + Autothrusters + R2D2

Jake + VI + PTL + Proton Rockets + Autothrusters + Title

Gray Squadron Pilot + TLT + R3A2 + BTLA4

99 pts

Top 4 (Joe G.) (lost to 2nd place) 4-1 swiss

Howlrunner + Crackshot

3 x Black Squadron Pilot + Crackshot

Wampa

Omega Leader + VI

100 pts

Top 4 (Eric B.) (lost to 1st place) 4-1 swiss

Roark + TLT + Recon Spec

3 x Blue Squadron + FCS

100 pts

And technically, 4th place after swiss was 7 x Academy Pilots and Backstabber, but he dropped to prevent some re-matches from swiss to elimination, and to watch his friend Ethan play, which was really nice of him, and great for Eric who was 5th in swiss.

This was a really great tournament, I saw a LOT of solid X Wing be played. I had to pull out some really funky moves with Whisper + Oicunn to beat some solid lists. In swiss I got to play against 1) 4 x TLT + Recon spec Scum HWKs, 2) Dual IG + Predator + Mangler + AT + Glitterstim + IG2000 + Adv Sensors, 3) Joe Gs Crack/Om Lead VI Swarm, 4) Soontir + Juno + Palp Shuttle, 5) 7 x Academies + Backstabber. Lucked out with no VI Vader or VI RAC in the mix, but the Roark, VI Om Lead, and VI Poe with PS9 Init bid Jake sure had me scared.

I just really love this game, love the diversity in the current meta, and love it when cool things happen, even when they negatively impact me. Though, winning helps, I suppose, haha.

Great job to all players, and thanks Hollow Mountain for making room and not turning away any players even though we went above the 20 player original cap.

Serrisu Tractor Beam Heavy Scyk + 4 Cartel Spacers, and the Leech with Bodyguard is 96 points, just throwing that out there for interested parties (Personally I would z-95 Swarm with Tractor Serissu, you trade 4 ships with +1 PS and Agility for 5 Ships with an extra shield)

Yup, you have my name right, I think all three of you wanted to play me lol, kevin had the match up and played both of you already and I got the impression you and the bearded Zach play each other pretty often but I did have Vader + Fel so it certainly would have been exciting, we shall just have to see if we bump into each other at another one of these events.

Yeah he's actually beaten me something like the last 4 times we played, I was worried I'd have to start spelling my name with a h after our matchup. But I remain undefeated in Zack offs. I'm hitting as many wisconsin and Illinois events as my two jobs allow, I'll be flying sillier stuff now that I took wedge all the way. That and I think the defender fix will kill rebel control

Amuse n Games (Winnipeg, Canada)

Turnout: 27 Players

Top 4 after Swiss:

1. Adrenalbots (basically Crackbots, but Adrenaline Rush instead of Crackshots) (6-0)

I was running the Adrenalbots. :) Mainly because it's funny seeing droid junkies doing 'stims and Point Break-ing it all over the place. I've nicknamed IG-B Bodhi and IG-C Johnny Utah.

Huzzah !

Excelsior Bristol, 28 players. Top 4 lists included Bossk, Echo and Vessery!

I attended the store championship at Blackfyre Games in Pleasant Grove, Utah. I believe there was just over or under 40 players. Winner was undefeated all day and had perfect MOV through swiss.

Winner Paul D

Warden w/ TLT, Tactician x2

Bandit

Gold w/ R3A2, TLT, title

2nd Place Bryce N

Gold w/ Ion cannon Turret, R2 astro

Poe w/ Pred, R5-P9, autothrusters,

Miranda w/ TLT, Tactian (pretty sure tactician)

Wasn't there for the cut, so not sure what the other 2 lists were. Saw a LOT of the Tie/FO, and a couple Brobots, but really diverse overall.

Perfect MoV through Swiss? That's better than I have done with the list, although I have come close through 3 rounds of Swiss. I believe the first time he saw his list was when he played vs me in TC Aces relegation round 1. Now I have to go pick his brain about any new tactics he might have picked up. :-D

This is insane! Way to go Paul! I can't even imagine going 5 games with that list and not losing a single ship, especially the Bandit or Stresshog who are relatively easy targets.

Sunday 1/24, Toys N Things, Danvers, MA - 11 players, 4 rounds Swiss, no top cut

This is from my own recollection since they didn't post results (I got 1st).

4-0 (1st): Matt C

2x Syndicate Thug w/ TLT, R4 Agromech
4x Binayre Pirate

3-1 (2nd?): Zack C
Poe Dameron w/ VI, R5-P9, Autothrusters
Gold w/ Ion Turret, R3-A2, BTL-A4
Gold w/ Ion Turret, (R2 astro?), BTL-A4, Bomb Loadout, Seismic Charge
Bandit

3-1? (3rd?): Travis
Poe Dameron w/ VI, R5-P9, Autothrusters
Red Ace w/ R2-D2, Comm Relay, Autothrusters
Rebel Operative w/ TLT, Tactician

... sooooo.. wampa seems to actually be everywhere.

Considering he's cheap, he's new, he's good, and he's the only good TIE from that expansion - no wonder. :)

But is he actually THAT good? I've seen him like around 4 times in top4s now.

How good does a ship that costs 14 points actually need to be if it has a reasonable chance to push through damage on ships like Soontir and Corran? On top of that he's new and sexy.

I don't think he's the only good TIE in that expansion either. Chaser and Scourge are both solid but don't really bring anything new to the game. They are just variations on existing TIE pilots (Night Beast, Mauler) so they'd tend to just replace those TIEs in lists rather than to be added to a list just for their ability like Wampa is.
