2016 Store Championship Results

By MajorJuggler, in X-Wing

I've posted it elsewhere, but the Game Castle Santa Clara stor championships were yesterday, and I placed 6th in swiss with non-meta scum. Made a play error that left miranda alive with ONE health in elimination, though. Still kicking myself over it. Black Sun Ace (23) Predator (3) "Hot Shot" Blaster (3) Munitions Failsafe (1) Kaa'To Leeachos (15) Crack Shot (1) "Hot Shot" Blaster (3) Munitions Failsafe (1) Drea Renthal (22) Ion Cannon Turret (5) Extra Munitions (2) Proton Torpedoes (4) R4-B11 (3) Guidance Chips (0) Binayre Pirate (12) Glitterstim (2) Total: 100 View in Yet Another Squad Builder

How did you play Guidance Chips at a store championships when it's not released yet???

Edit: Formatting issue is FFG site.

Whoops, that's not supposed to be in there yet. But the rest of it is good. fixed

No joke. My word, that's difficult to even look at. xD

I attended the store championship at Blackfyre Games in Pleasant Grove, Utah. I believe there was just over or under 40 players. Winner was undefeated all day and had perfect MOV through swiss.

Winner Paul D

Warden w/ TLT, Tactician x2

Bandit

Gold w/ R3A2, TLT, title

2nd Place Bryce N

Gold w/ Ion cannon Turret, R2 astro

Poe w/ Pred, R5-P9, autothrusters,

Miranda w/ TLT, Tactian (pretty sure tactician)

Wasn't there for the cut, so not sure what the other 2 lists were. Saw a LOT of the Tie/FO, and a couple Brobots, but really diverse overall.

Played in the Store Championship at The Geekery in Shawnee, KS. We had 31 participants after one of the signed up players failed to show. After the cut the top 4 were:

Winner

Echo w/VI, FCS, Agent Kallus, ACD

Sigma w/Rebel Captive, Stygium, FCS

OMG w/Emperor Palpatine

2nd Place

Omega Leader w/Juke, Comm Relay

Zeta Leader w/Juke, Comm Relay

Wampa

Mauler Mithel

Scourge

3rd Place Lost to 2nd Place in top 4

4x Syndicate Thug w/TLT, Unhinged Astromech

4th Place lost to Winner in Top 4 (this one may not be 100% accurate for the Dash Upgrades)

Dash Rendar w/Lone Wolf, Outrider, HLC, Recon Specialist

Gold Squadron Pilot w/Autoblaster Turret

Gold Squadron Pilot w/BTL, TLT, R3-A2

Fun note, I think I saw 3-4 imperial lists total there. It was a very heavy rebel tournament, including myself.

I've posted it elsewhere, but the Game Castle Santa Clara stor championships were yesterday, and I placed 6th in swiss with non-meta scum. Made a play error that left miranda alive with ONE health (ant the rest of my list in no position to finish her, which led to my loss) in elimination, though. Still kicking myself over it.

I was there too (no cut for me, though). Had 50 or 51 people, and more were signed up before they realized that they'd hit a space cap (not sure what was going on there, though I saw an "occupancy: 49" sign, so maybe it was fire code issues). I'd heard a rumor of 56 signups about a week prior, so who knows what would have happened had there not been a cap.

The impression on the floor was that it was about 50% Imperial, but we'll have to wait until everything's in LJ before we know for certain.

(awaits the angry rants)

I'm actually kind of curious to see what the exact list was. Whether it was the standard Han build we've seen for pretty much two years now, or something else.

Top two at Cooper's Cave and Paintball in NY.

1. Warden Pilot, Autoblaster x4

2. Soontir Fel + SD + AT + PTL + Title

Vader + Prockets + Juke + Title + ATC + EU

Omega Leader + Comm Relay + Juke

And me at 8th (of 16)

Palob+ TLT + Predator

Torkhil + TLT

Black Sun Ace + Predator

Cartel Marauder

If the entire meta is going to be 3 ship lists, each with 2 low health aces (since you're ignoring the stacks of tokens they hide behind), this is a smart play.

I've played 5 Autoblaster Y-Wings before and it's decent. I had an idea that 4 autoblaster K-Wings would be good.

Beyond range 1 they have their regular turrets. They have slam, and they have 9 health each. I t's not like you're going to face a swarm since no one plays swarm , and should you face quad TLT you have the advantage once you close to range 1.

Against a fat turret you can just 2 damage plink it to death, and if it closes to range 1 it's now facing 3 dice.

I see Crackshot swarms all over these tournament results.

Cartel Marauder

This is outstanding.

I would love to run that, but no way I'm buying 3 more K-wings.

3rd and 4th where the following

Boba Fett+Inertial Dampeners (or was it VI?)

Guri+ Predator+Autothruster

N'dru+Cluster Missles+Lonewolf+glitterstim

4th(me)

Carnor Jax+VI+AT+Royal Guard+Stealth device

Omega Leader+Juke+Comm Relay

2x Tempest Squardron+ accuracy correctors

Sam, playing at that store championship sounds like it would have been a blast. Seems like there was a great deal of diversity, as is the case with most of the results I've looked at so far -- which is awesome. Nice job to the guy who made it to the cut with Drea!

People need to stop using builds that bump up the desire for more K-wings.

Okay so my first matchup, using the four Autoblaster Wardens, was against three loaded Bomb Wardens. Seven K-Wings on the table at once was undeniably majestic.

I wish! Sadly I didn't think to take any pictures at the tourney.

Board Game Barrister Bayfield (Wisconsin)

Highlights

Top 4 after Swiss

1. 4 TLT Scum Y-wing (5-0)

2. Soontir, Vader, Zertik Strom (4-1, highest MoV of the day 814, me)

3. Wedge, Bandit, Stressbot Gold, Tactician Blue, eventual winner)

4. Whisper, Soontir, Zeta Leader

Matchup was 3v4 and 1v2 (because 1 had played 3 and 4 already, we were unsure if the not playing someone if possible still applied so we just went with it)

Personally I didn't pay much attention to the 3v4 game, in the 1v2 game, it was a 2hp Soontir vs 2 full HP Y-wings, and a damaged one and it ended up with only a 2 hull Y-wing left alive who got Soontir after a poorly judged BR that ended up putting them barely in range instead of out, and Soontir thinking he was safe neglected to push the limit for an evade+focus after the BR (or should have just not BRed)

Winner: Poe (R2-D2, AT, VI), Jake (VI, PTL, AT, Prockets), Gold Sqdn (TLT, R3-A2, BTL-A4)

A friend and I recently took two very similar lists (he had Predator on Poe, while I took Tycho over Jake) to a non-Store Champ and had good results. Glad to see it doing well.

The Top Cut is highest vs lowest seed and a psuedo-new tourney, so they should have played each other again, but *shrug* may not have changed anything.

Basic lists from FFG Event Center as I don't have all the upgrades.

(Cut to Top 16 due to 87 players)

Final matchup was: Whisper, Omega Leader, Yorr (with Palp) vs. Corran Horn and Miranda --Imperial win.

Other Top 4:

Double Phantom

Quad TLTs

Rest of Top 16 (that I can recall):

Han+Jake

Corran, Jake, Proto

IG 88 A+B (I think three of these lists)

IG 88 B+D

Palp Shuttle, Vader, Omega Leader, Wampa

Poe, Stresshog, 3Z95s?

Guri, Slaver, 2 Z95s

I took 17th at this tournament and ran Palp Shuttle, Vader, Omega Leader, and Wampa. In the six rounds, I faced Imperials and Scum 3 times each, but no Rebels. It seemed to me that there were not many Rebel players.

I won a store championship with Boba, VI, Slave 1, Extra Munitions, Proton Bombs, Homing Missiles, Engine Upgrade, Weapons Engineer and Vader with VI, X1, ATC, Engine Upgrade, Proton Rockets.

It's 97 points. So when I face someone also with PS 10 they're automatically given initiative. 2 point initiative bid? That's cute.

An opponent of mine forgot about my proton bombs. Got a direct hit on his Vader through shields. Next game we face each other in the elimination phase and he forgets again. Full health Echo takes a direct hit, and Vader takes one from the proton bomb. We're not going to let him forget about that one haha.

Prockets on PS 11 engines Vader carry so ******* hard. "and that's 5 hits".

I'll get around to posting the top 4.

Nice. Crazy-Fett brings it home.

Nice. Crazy-Fett brings it home.

Weapons Engineer is nice but I was boosting like crazy so I would have been better off with Rebel Captive, Mara Jade, or Tactician. Heh, Bombardier. I dropped a bomb or two that I was just short on, not sure if dropping with the 2 straight would have made them hit. I'll have to look at all of the crew cards and decide on one, I have plenty of choices.

This game is no longer about planning your maneuvers well, it's all about having pilot skill on your opponent and boosting. Well, PS 10 Boba with a 3 point initiative bid and PS 11 Vader are excellent at that. XD

Also, Imperial Boba's ability saved my ass in the game I ended up dropping the protons. It doesn't save you often but when it does you're so glad that you have it. With engine upgrade you can setup a situation ahead of time with an angled boost, and then next turn you can dial in a 2 bank or something. One gets accounted for and you nope the **** out and 2 bank the other way and boost. Oh look, you have no arcs on me.

And now they're behind me. And I have Proton Bombs. Either they forget and they eat one, or they don't and they all have to peel away. That's another thing about high PS that you can abuse, bombs.

Perfect MoV through Swiss? That's better than I have done with the list, although I have come close through 3 rounds of Swiss. I believe the first time he saw his list was when he played vs me in TC Aces relegation round 1. Now I have to go pick his brain about any new tactics he might have picked up. :-D

A Muse n Games (Winnipeg, Canada)

Turnout: 27 Players

Top 4 after Swiss:

1. Adrenalbots (basically Crackbots, but Adrenaline Rush instead of Crackshots) (6-0)
2. 3 TLT K-Wings (one Miranda) and Tactician
3. Boba + 2 TLT Ys (one Kavil)
4. Guri + 2 Black Sun Ace!!!

Saw lots of variety in squad lists today. Strangely, not many Poes...or maybe not so strange since that dude can be super awesome one game, and go down pretty hard the next.

I played against:

Brobots (with VI, Manglers, Advanced Sensors, and Bombs)
Whisper, Echo, and Dark Curse
Soontir, Carnor, and I believe Turr
The triple Ks with Tactician
Guri + Black Suns

I was running the Adrenalbots. :) Mainly because it's funny seeing droid junkies doing 'stims and Point Break-ing it all over the place. I've nicknamed IG-B Bodhi and IG-C Johnny Utah.

Too many crazy squads coming out that I want to try out now.

Get ready to have your minds blown....

The first of three store champs in the Knoxville area was won by a list that had both Guri and Xizor in it.

I'll post the results sometime tomorrow
