2016 Store Championship Results

By MajorJuggler, in X-Wing

21 player store championship at FDB, in the National Capital Region (Canada), listjuggler .

Winner: Grant (2nd swiss)

Seems like a very nice kid with a deep understanding of the game.

Han Solo + Veteran Instincts + Millennium Falcon + Engine Upgrade + C-3PO + Gunner
Red Ace + R2-D2 + Autothrusters + Comm Relay

(98)

Runner-up: Trevor (1st swiss)

He lost only two ships through 4 rounds of swiss, to Michael below. I gather he usually wins these things, judging by what's written on his range rulers.

Black Sun Soldier
Black Sun Soldier
Syndicate Thug + Twin Laser Turret
Syndicate Thug + Twin Laser Turret
Torkil Mux + Twin Laser Turret
(99)

Top 4: Michael (3rd swiss)

Nice guy, started playing at Christmas. He was last at his first tournament, 10th at the next one and now third, and the only one to cost Trevor a ship. He's a quick learner for sure!

Prototype Pilot + Chardaan Refit
Ten Numb + Mangler Cannon + Veteran Instincts + bwing/E2 + Fire-Control System + Han Solo
Keyan Farlander + Heavy Laser Cannon + Push the Limit + bwing/E2 + Fire-Control System + Jan Ors
(100)

Top 4: Daniel (4th swiss)

I don't remember talking to him and I'm horrible with names. Hopefully I meet him again in the future and I'll know more ;)

Poe Dameron + Veteran Instincts + R5-P9 + Autothrusters
Red Ace + Comm Relay + R2-D2 + Integrated Astromech
Blue Squadron Novice + R3-A2 + Integrated Astromech
(99)

I got a respectable 10th, with a 3 MoV difference with #8 with Rexler, Omega Leader, and Zeta Leader. Though since the TO was nice enough to give me the first bye even though I knew I'd be a few minutes late (swimming lessons and all that), I wouldn't have taken the ruler, it was not deserved!

I'm happy with my results for a second tournament, even though I only saw rebels (and there was not a Soontir in the room). Learning that at least 3 people in the room have their names in the book and playing against one was really cool. I'm looking forward to the next one!

I just bought a 2nd YV-666, and this list keeps calling to me. I am really trying hard to resist throwing out my Palp, Vader, Omega Leader, and Wampa list that netted me 17th out of 87 people to run this at a Store Championship this weekend.

Regen is getting out of hand, 3 of the 4 lists i played against on saturday had double regen.

You can thank TLTs for that.

No, you can't. Corran has been meta since late wave 4, Poe would be run regardless of TLT existing. Only Mirandas regen is tied to TLT and she isn't the most popular one. I understand that people dislike TLTs for some reason, but attributing every problem the game has to them is just wrong.

If i look at the top 4 lists, there is Double Regen... and Single Regen, and Palpy, and Aces, and Brobots, and PWTs, and Swarms, and Stress, and unusual rogue lists like Tycho 5Z or double or triple YV-666.

I mean just stop this nonsense before it begins, please!

To be fair, TLT did for the most part eliminate the 60 point Fat Han or Dash that Poe would be run with. This frees up 60 points for a second regen ship and something else.

Wiping Fat Turrets from the meta did enable double regen, you'd see a lot less of it if large ship MoV nerf/TLT didn't happen. Double regen is better than facing phantom deci 3 times consecutively though.

If large ship MoV/TLT didn't happen, all you'd ever see would be Poe and Han/Dash, the Imperial equivalent of it on occasion, and Palp aces. Those 3.5 builds constantly. TLT did most of the work IMO in changing the game's meta from mostly hyper NPE lists to something bearable and for the most part enjoyable. Another year of Fat Turretwing would have been awful and Poe would have encouraged even more of it had he been introduced before the nerf/TLT. In addition to being harder to kill than Corran, he's also cheaper, his optimal loadout(s) can fit next to a fat turret's optimal loadout without having to sacrifice anything, his PS is higher with VI, and you have points to spare so you can get luxury upgrades on your fat turret like Luke instead of gunner.

Literally anything to not have the meta be 60% Poe Han, dear god. I'd almost rather un-nerf the Phantom, at least you could autokill one if you hard countered it.

Won a 30 person tourney with

Wampa

Howlrunner + Crack Shot

Omega Squadron + Crack Shot

Zeta Leader + Wired + TIE mk.II

Omega Leader + Juke + Comms Relay

List Juggler soon.

Congrats! Do you fly Omega Leader in formation or separately? I've been running a similar list (2nd and top 4 so far) but with Vader (ATC, Crack Shot) instead of OL and Black Squadron instead of Omega Squadron. Flying Vader in formation is a bit awkward but the firepower is great. I've mostly only had trouble with large, boosting PWTs.

Nice event! Matt and I had a surprisingly interesting final where Omega Leader missed blocking Whisper by a nub, keeping his TL on Oicunn thinking that Whisper was FOR SURE blocked, bahaha. He ate a range 1 TL + F shot from Whisper for his insolence. Oicunn went down that round to simultaneous fire too, but not before 1 shotting 1 of my 2 last Blacks. Howlrunner and Zeta Lead had sacrificed their bodies to mortally wound Oicunn the rounfs before, so I had 1 Tie left. Even with this 1v1 end game, it wasn't over! That little Tie went on to take off Whisper's last shield in a basically forced K Turn exchange after multiple rounds of repeatedly blocking Whisper so she couldnt recloak. A few rounds later and another Whisper K Turn with the FCS TL took out the Tie. What a guy!

Great job by Matt though pulling out a great tourney win! I saw him win some tough matches! Great job to everyone else too!

Just finished watching your final match since I missed it on the stream yesterday

Fantastic flying in that match. I really need to work on my Whisper flying skills, so I can try out that list.

Double Play Comics and Games, Mankato MN.

Winner (2nd place after Swiss): TallTony

Kent

Whisper /w ACD, Kallus, FCS, VI

Having Yorr to take stress from k-turns/sloops and stressbot/tactician is a super upgrade over the standard palp aces lists.

Kryptonite Kollectibles Janesville, WI (apologize if spelling is off)

4 rounds swiss (no top cut because we were getting kicked out at 6pm) 24 Players

1. RAC-Expose, Palp, Rebel Captive; Wampa; Colzet accuracy corrector 4-0

2. 4 TLT Unhinged astromech 4-0

3.Poe-VI, R5P9, Autothrusters; Corran-PTL R2D2, FCS, EU; Prototype-Refit 3-1

4. (No Idea, I believe at least 1 T65) 3-1

5. 4 TLT Unhinged astromech BTL-A4 3-1 (the loss was modified)

6. (No Idea) 3-1

7. Corran-VI, R2D2, FCS; Poe-VI, R5P9, Autothrusters; Blount-Deadeye, Adv. Homing Missiles 2.5-1 (Okay 3-1 but one was a modified against the Locked 4 TLT list, and the poor chump got paired against the other TLT the round after, but in game 4 he used Blount's Autohit ACMs to punch a direct hit through on Laetin A'Shera with Stealth Device in a Simultaneous Fire death)

8. I believe Kenkirk-Determination, Isaard, Palp; Echo-FCS, Recon Spec, VI, ACD (my guess is 2-2 but possible 3-1 with a modified win)

Double Play Comics and Games, Mankato MN.

Yes, Yorr is awesome! I ran a very similar list yesterday at the Mission fun and games SC mentioned above (Edmonton) - won by an 11 year old.

Echo with LW, SJ, Kallus, ACD

Omega Leader with Juke, Comm Relay

Yorr with Palpatine

Placed 3rd out of 20 in Swiss, and got completely outflown in the top four game by a RAC, Fel player.

It was a fun tournament with lots of new players coming out, which is great to see!

Agreed that feedback Tactician garbage trucks is terrifying. They eat aces for breakfast!

It really depends. Those small ships with low life and few actions? Just how many of them will you be facing. Two TIEs can wreak havoc on a Y-wing.

Didn't make it to local SC, but heard some results. Think someone will get a better list, but will post.
