On Jan 31, ABQ New Mexico, Active Imagination Store Champs (25 players) had both the One and Two spots filled with 'Palpmobile Aces': one of the lists had Carnor and Soontir, then other had Turr and Soontir. I don't know further details.

Results from Gamezilla Moncton (New Brunswick, Canada) store championships today (14 players, 4 rounds swiss):

1st:

- Soontir Fel + PTL + Stealth + Autothrusters

- Carnor Jax + VI + Hull + Autothrusters

- Captain Yorr + Palpatine

2nd:

- Vader

- Omega Leader

- Colonel Jendon

(Not sure of upgrades, will hopefully update later)

3rd:

- Poe + VI + R2-D2 + Autothrusters

- Gold squad + TLT + R3-A2 + BTL-A4

- Gold squad + TLT

- Bandit

(Heaver's world championship list)

4th:

- Torkil Mux + TLT + Tactician + Moldy crow

- Syndicate thug + Autoblaster turret + Unhinged Astromech

- Syndicate thug + Autoblaster turret + Unhinged Astromech

- Binayre pirate + Feedback array

- Binayre pirate + Feedback array

I played the 4th place list, and was 3-0 until the last game, just losing a very close game to the winner. I'll probably post a full report later.

I like your squad, nice weird ace hard counters. But what about Palob instead of Torkil?

Is it so that to can hopefully wipe aces before they damage your ships?

Tell me more about your squad please, I love meta hate squads.

Thanks! I like Palob a lot, but stripping a token from an ace doesn't do too much if my other ships are at range 2-3, as their two-dice attacks usually can't hit at that range anyway. If my other ships are at range 1, they'll be using autoblaster turret or feedback array, for which it doesn't matter if the opponent has a token or not. With Torkil, as you can say, I can try to kill an ace or other ships before they kill my ships - this can be especially helpful with the Z's, who otherwise can often get killed before they can feedback array. Torkil is also one point cheaper, which allows me to take Moldy crow and tactician on him; the tactician provides yet another threat an ace has to avoid.

However, I'm by no means sure Torkil is the best way to fill out the rest of the points. I've tried other variants of this squad which used a PS1 Starviper instead with reasonable success (see here and here ). In the next wave, I'm also looking at something like 4-Lom with Tactician and other stuff to fill out the points.

I wish they actually gave people that couldn't get to their store monthly events a chance to go to this - they didn't even let people get tickets from their website.

Didn't mean to open that can of worms. :/

Stuff like that isn't cool dude, I'm sure they try the best they can with the space they have!

AlexW recommended the two named Leaders over 3 Zeta Squadron Pilots that I had used previously. It's pretty excellent.

Nice list. 50 pt Rexler is so expensive! But I bet only having 3 ships helped with that marathon of a tournament. 5 swiss and top 8 cut is a little much for a 28 person tournament.

I don't know what the FFG policy is for that size. It was a bunch of games, though, but I like playing, so I didn't mind.

The FFG tourney kit recommends 5 rounds of swiss and a top 4 for 28 players. The problem with the cut to top 4 at that number is there's a good chance an X-1 doesn't make it which is pretty harsh considering there is only one undefeated player after 5 swiss at that number.

I had borrowed Bio's Rexlar + 3 Zeta list and had been playing it quite a bit (and the Zetas are very good against TLTs) but in the end the 3 Zetas just couldn't quite pull their weight. I found in my own recent list that Omega and Zeta Leaders are both worth more than the three zetas, especially built that way.

Why take Hull Upgrade over Comm Relay on Zeta Leader? Hull is going to be better against unavoidable damage but in most other situations, isn't the stored evade token from round one going to be slightly better than a point of hull? If you end up getting to use 2 stored tokens it's much better than Hull Upgrade.

Games and Stuff in Glen Burnie had their store champ yesterday. It had 77 players!

We had a marathon of 6 swiss rounds and top 16 cut. I ran my worlds list, coming in 20th. The winner was Palp Shuttle, Omega Leader (Juke and Comm), Whisper (VI ACD FCS RebCap). He beat Jeremy in the finals running his worlds top 4 list (Fel Vader Palp Shuttle).

Zeta Leader with Wired is just filthy. You get blocked in close-quarters battles and go from 2-3 unmodified dice to 3-4 lightly modified dice. You also get defensive re-rolls against everthing below your PS as long as you get a shot off. It's the anti-TLT/swarm specialist of the bunch.

Several reasons.

1.) It's stronger against Crack Shot. I have an unhealthy fear of Crackbots, although I didn't face any.

2.) I rarely have a chance to reload the token, because Zeta is always in the thick of it.

3.) (Most importantly), I only own one FO expansion, because the story near my house was out.

Honestly, if I had the points, I wouldn't feel bad about putting both upgrades. He punches way above his weight class because he hits and tanks like a heavy fighter with PS7, costs like a heavy fighter at PS2, and moves like a TIE/fo.

3rd place was ion brobots (see below!)

Awesome !

3 Palp+aces lists and Dash Corran on the top 4 cut at the store champs in Palm Bay, FL. FVP took it all.

Took me a minute to figure out what that meant.

Wandering Dragon (Plainfield, IL) had 18 people show. 4 swiss rounds and a cut to top 4.

First (3rd after swiss):

Omicron Group Pilot + Emperor Palpatine
Wampa
Omega Leader + Juke + Comm Relay
Darth Vader + Veteran Instincts + Advanced Targeting Computer + TIE/x1

(100)

Top 4 (1st after swiss):

Roark Garnet + Twin Laser Turret + Recon Specialist
Gold Squadron Pilot + Twin Laser Turret
Rookie Pilot + R3-A2
Bandit Squadron Pilot
Bandit Squadron Pilot
(99)

Top 4 (2nd after swiss):

Airen Cracken

Re: Zeta L

In addition to the reasons mentioned above, If you aren't getting a second use out of it, it is actually worse if you face any type of automatic damage (and there are more of those entering the meta), Omega Leader is getting more popular and Jax is still out there. I'll add that I sometimes I don't get to make use of it against TLTs, either since your roll needs to turn up exactly one evade less than the number of hits.

I love Wired and I love the TIEs whose ability is a conditional extra attack die. To have both that work together so well is a thing of beauty. It does make me wonder if FFG didn't design these to work together like this (even though they come with different expansions.

28 players, 4 rounds, cut to 4.
