TFA TIE Fighter size and other scale questions - Light Spoilers

By Ken at Sunrise, in X-Wing

This is a multi-part question.

A) How big are the panels on the TIE fighters in TFA. They look the same size as the TIE fighter that we have. But in a few scenes, like the damaged one on Jaaku, it looks more squat like the TIEs in Rebels.

How big are they?

B) Gozanti size/scale. First I love the Gozanti. I like that it is cannon, it the moves and in Rebels and absolutely love that it is in the standard X-Wing scale and not a sliding scale. Woo Hoo.

But it makes the GR-75 Transport look even smaller. Okay maybe this isn't really a valid question but shouldn't the transport be much bigger? I wouldn't mind a full scale one but I think it is too late for that now.

C) Star Wars Battlefront. Has anyone seen upclose the CR-90 on Jaaku? Does it look way smaller than it should be. The forward section should be about three stories tall and three times that wide but it really doesn't look that big when standing right in front if it. Having said that the ATATs look just about the right size to me.

Well the one that crashes on Jakku is a special forces TIE. So is different to the ones we have in the game now. But, I didn't notice it looking squatter. It may just be the digital model compared to the physical model they built for the crashed scenes.

How big are they?

The TIE/fo is smaller than the TIE/ln is, and that's true for the models, they're slightly smaller as well.

But it makes the GR-75 Transport look even smaller.

The problem is a 1/270 scale CR-90 would of been IIRC 3-4 inches longer, that would of likely added oh maybe $50 to the expansion, and that would've meant fewer sales. That also meant they had to scale the GR-75 to look mostly correct next to the CR-90. They could of likely made the GR-75 a full 1/270 or close to it. It was only 90m long. But then it would of looked too big.

With the Gonz I think that was a bit of catch 22. It's only 63m long, so if they used the same scale as the other ships it would of been too small, couldn't fit TIE's under it if it was the same scale as the GR-75

The problem is a 1/270 scale CR-90 would of been IIRC 3-4 inches longer,

A 1/270 scale CR-90 would be almost 22 inches long. That would be adding around 8 inches to the model and probably doubling the price.

I think if the GR-75 were released today, it would be a larger model. It has always looked out of place next to a Falcon. Now with the Decimator, Gozanti, and (oh lordy) the Ghost, the rebel transport is going to look completely out of place.

ugh the ghost is probably wider than the transport. ugh.

Yes the battlefront cr-90 and gr-75 both look too small to be proper scale. They do look about right if our models were to be called 1/270. (As if the game designer used our models without realizing the huge ships ate a different scale)

As much as I would have loved a scaled Raider and CR-90 and I even feel it would have been worth the money. The Transport looked small before now it is really small.

Like I said, I don't expect a new ship or anything, shame really it would have been an awesome model. There is just so much detail on a 12" to 16" transport.
