Scum newbies, don't jump in and buy 2 aggressors first up.....

By MarkCx, in X-Wing

Basically after the IG's you need 2-3 ships and you can play pretty competitively already. Not every ship can claim that!

2 IG boxes

1 starviper box

2 B wing boxes \ 2 Ewing boxes \ 2 lambda boxes

2 kihraxz boxes \ 2 defender boxes \ 2 Awing boxes \ Imp Ace box

yeeeah, 2-3 ships

Okay, so you need 5 ships at most. I would probably go 2 Kihraxz which are not lost for a Scum player for (PTL or Predator) and then Advanced sensors or FCS. If you took 2 shuttles you would get Sensor jammer on top of that! It's bad coincidence (or not...) that no ship gets a useful EPT/Systems combo for the IG

Now which other competitive list needs less purchases. Not many!

BUY A WHOLE FLEET!111

Anyone who tries to fly my two aggressors, I make them fly a 2 shuttle mini swarm first. It doesn't fly the same way but the thought process to get and keep shuttles on target is the same as aggressors.

Completely disagree. Brobots are powerful and easy to fly, perfect for newbies. A friend played 2 games of x wing and then went 4-1 with them at a tournament. Round one he even flew one off the table turn two and still won the game!

I don't even want to know how you lose 50% of your list and still win...

I have done this before (fly an Aggressor off the board and come within a hair's breadth of winning). If your opponent is also flying a 2 ship build, it's not as hard as you might think. The Aggressor dial backed by Autothrusters and 3 green dice negates a LOT of incoming fire.

Don't buy 2... buy 4... because Epic!!!

I bought 2 Aggressors as part of my 2nd batch of expansions (the first was Most Wanted to get a very basic turret for my boys to learn maneuvering).I'll be taking them to a winter tournament in 2 weeks, without autothrusters or fire control systems (yes, shocks, gasps, etc.).

For me, fun is not just winning. I like to fly the ships and I enjoy a challenge, and Aggressors are certainly that.

I've gotten good at moving the small ships around obstacles and was considering some sort of Poe/Corran list as they're relatively safer, but, to me, doing marginally well with that list would not be half as fun as getting destroyed with Aggressors, zooming those large ships all over the place.

And, if anything, me being destroyed would be a better lesson for my boys about how there's always someone better out there and that losing or winning is really not the point of playing. The Gozanti is a door prize, I don't need to win to have a shot at it ;)

If you cannot take losing, it might not be a bad idea to stay away from any challenging list, basically.

Bah, I earned my wings first on the shuttle. Newbs have it easy these days!
