Imperial fighter prices....

By tgall, in Star Wars: Armada

If you want a good laugh, head over to Amazon and check out the $2342 price for a pack of Imperial fighters...

For that price it better make dang good parsecs on the Kessel Run...

Alas not in my hanger bay...

It is amazing both what people will charge for product that is on the boat and what people will pay for it.

I do hope that is a missed decimal point before anything else...

But I also know its a Vain hope...

... Like Alfred Nobel's Hope that Dynamite would End all Wars...

That really worked out, eh?

Amazon is the definitive worst place to get anything Armada.

Amazon.ca routinely wants double retail for all Armada items.

I have been told that many resellers on amazon use an automated program to manage their inventory. Among the things such a program can do is, if you are actually out if stock on an item, it will find the same item from someone else and set your price for it higher than what someone else is is asking so that, if someone buys from you, you don't loose the sale and the purchase gets handed off to a different seller. What can apparently happen is that 2 such systems start keying off each other and the price shoots up to crazy levels like this. So it isn't someone trying to gouge people, it is 2 computer programs in a feedback loop because they don't know any better.

That's what I have been told, anyway.

Miniature market has fighter packs.

I have also gotten stuff on amazon for 50% under list price with free shipping. I just had to keep checking the prices every day when I was buying stuffing. I also check on the game shops web sites for sales. Its also helps to not be in a hurry to get things.

I now have $350. worth of stuff and payed less then $200. for it all.

I only ordered from Amazon in a pinch for Armada stuff. I needed an extra Whale for something and needed it before a upcoming tournament and FLGS was sold out. Since the item was "prime" I got it in 2 days but I paid an extra 9 bucks.

But in general ordering from Amazon - Armada even X-Wing is a really bad idea.

The restocks for them arrived last week... should see normal prices and stock now...

I think there were like $200 Falcons at one point for X-Wing because of that algorithm.

I would bet you aren't ordering from Amazon.ca (Canada) I check it 2 or 3 times a week for different things and I have never seen any Armada stuff on there that wasn't way off the mark.

Amazon.com will occasionally have a sale on stuff where its worth buying even with the exchange and international shipping. But very very rarely.

Other than the flukey spikes, I'll save at least $3 on anything X Wing or Armada on Amazon over LGS.

But I typically will buy at the store unless there is a really hot deal online. Like the $9 Nebs.

For 2-3 days about two weeks before Christmas, amazon.ca had reasonable pricing for most Armada wave 2 products.

see I thought this was a joke about exchange rates between the US and Canada, but I guess not :/
