The Run of the Rebellion

By CheapCreep, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Back around 2 years before the Battle of Yavin, the Rebellion received news of two imperial tacticians, that had pioneered the imperial flight plans and had knowledge of imperial navel strategies wished to defect. Unfortunately the Rebellion cell active in the area had a convoy strike the same exact date. They were only able to spare one agent, Kanan Jarrus. Kanan took two operatives and two extra HWK-290s and met with the man who leaked the information and arranged the meeting, Kyle katarn. Kyle had it all planned out, the hired a new found friend, Lando, to assist with extracting the defectors in his new, incredibly fast ship "the millennium falcon". During the mission, they ran into trouble. Kyle and Kanan kept a level head, keeping the team focused, and lando's ease of flying focused his wing mates in turn. The tactician's information kept the rebels one step ahead of the attackers, leaving them stressing to respond effectively. In the end, Kyle was incredibly impressed with the HWK's performance and connected with Kanan, a fellow force user, and grew a love for the rebellion.

This list is where that story came from

Interesting story and all but there's a few flaws with the list being effective, unless you are strictly playing it without trying to win. Lando wants to do green maneuvers to give other ships free actions. Kanan allows clearing of stress with white ones but you kinda want to be doing green to get the action too. Nien nunb is made for Lando for this purpose. The hawks are being pulled to 2 different ranges they would like to be in. Tactician works only at 2, but the dorsal turret wants them in 1 in order to get the extra attack die.

I can agree with Nien, but Kanan allows for my Hwks to do the red moves they often need to do to keep in the action as well as allow my Yt-1300 to jump out of a fight it's struggling with and still clear stress without doing a green every turn. Nien is good but doesn't sure as synergistic whole as one might hope and makes you really predictable. Also, there's nothing at all wrong with having my opponent have to stress about being in range 1 or 2, Tactican will make them more likely to jump to Range 1 where I get an added bonus! If they don't, I still get a good thing.

I'll get it a test drive, I doubt it will be highly competitive but I can probably have a good go with it.
