All I can say every time one of these threads pops up is, "This again?"
Are the Imps getting the short end of the stick?
And I'll provide the usual "you don't need to click the link" response.
I've been saying we need a small base turret ship for ages, imps have lost everything that made them unique we used to have bombs now everyone does, we no longer have a monopoly on three agility, no longer have the only rear arc ships.
We have had things taken by other factions but not gained much back besides the decimator`s pwt.
If the rebel scrum gets our tricks we should get theirs.
Scum even got a cloak!

I disagree, I'd like to keep the factions as different from each other for as long as possible. It'll be boring if every faction can do everything every other faction can do.
I don't really care about factions anymore. After wave 5 turned the game into nothing but turrets, I don't really consider a Phantom Deci player beating a Corran Falcon player to be an instance of "Wow, a lot of imperial lists in the top 8." It's all variations on the same theme. If the meta was still swarm dominated none of you would really see the difference between 8 Z's and 8 TIEs and 7 M3-A's. I don't really see the difference between rebel Acewing/Turretwing list and imperial acewing/Turretwing list. All the same busted BS.
Each faction has their share of OP Acewing ships and Fat Turretwing ships. I suppose the Rebels have the advantage here because they have more of these types of ships and access to regen, but the smaller amount of Imperial Acewing builds are just as good as Rebel ones.
Besides for Dual IG's, Scum has none of this type of stuff and therefore they don't typically place as high/as often.
Scum even got a cloak!
It's a **** cloak though. and scum need help when not running bro-bots
TLT kinda defeats the point of flying imps imo. cheap, low HP, high AGI ships is supposed to be the theme.
Personally not a fan of TLTs at all, and I'm grateful my community has shunned the idea of running four.

I agree - if anything I think at least a few of the turret options should be Rebel or Scum only. I support unique matchups like Brobots versus Poe and Corran regen buddies over homogenized TLT Ys anyday.
But after the inevitable Rebel Veterans release that advantage will probably be lost. The Empire is ready for another standout regular wave ship.

That would be the Adv. Prototype. That thing clocks in at 16pts for goodness' sake. Give it the title and AT and you have a great little ship. I'm reallllly hoping that "Baron o..." is a generic ept ps 4 ship at 18pts, so you can run one with juke AT and title for a measly 23pts.
It would also make the Adv. perhaps the first ship ever released with 100% great pilots. Fingers crossed.
In short OP, this is a great time to fly imperial - this coming from someone who has raised concerns in the past about rebel power. Scum have some actual real issues right now, so I think it's a bit distasteful for us imperials to complain while they limp along on their bro-crutches. Great game, great balancing, imo.
Scum will do just fine when chimps come out. Concussion Z with stems and chimps is amazing. Ive been playing this and its a lot of fun:
Kihraxz Fighter: · Talonbane Cobra (28)
Crack Shot (1)
Glitterstim (2)
Y-Wing: Syndicate Thug (18)
Twin Laser Turret (6)
R4 Agromech (2)
Z-95 Headhunter: · N'dru Suhlak (17)
· Lone Wolf (2)
Concussion Missiles (4)
Guidance Chips (0)
Glitterstim (2)
Z-95 Headhunter: Binayre Pirate (12)
Concussion Missiles (4)
Guidance Chips (0)
Glitterstim (2)

So more homogeneity is the answer??
Honestly, people just need to complain less and play more . You don't see Paul Heaver and Morgan Reid and other champions whining on the forums every day, because instead they put ships on the table and kick your ass at worlds.

And we haven't even seen the new crew option in there yet! I'm really hoping it'll synergize well with the Imperial Firespray, which would help make another less useful Imperial ship become worthwhile.
S&V just sit here with our Scyks Starvipers and YVs and try to understand why is the Empire so depressed
Scum even got a cloak!
playing a phantom build without AdvCloakingDevice upgrade

I think Worlds tier players don't complain because in order for one to be a Worlds tier player you have to be okay with flying broken power ships.
I think Paul Heaver understands that if you're flying 5x Kirahxz or something it's going to autolose to a bunch of stuff in the meta, but he just accepts it and flies meta lists.
No... we still have the coolest ships.
It would be nice to get a few Imperial only upgrades for a change. The rebels have lots of upgrades only they (or their scum cousin) can use, but we really don't have much that is just ours.
Edit: and it isn't getting any better with the Ghost coming out.
Edited by HolySorcererEmpire was not and should not be a faction of variety.
Staple production, little to none modifications.
But cost-efficient.
I just played in a store championship yesterday (35 players) where all 4 top four finishers were Imperial. Empire is getting huge new instruments for their lists. Rebels are still solid. Scum is still brobots.
As I said with scum being the latecomer to the party they have a difficult spot. They have to find something that is viable that no other factions can do or find something that another faction does well but Scum can do it better. The former part is a difficult spot as their control aspects can be easily countered. Ironically the best control ship is a stresshog which belongs to the rebels.
As for the latter well brobots have essentially replaced Buzzsaw shuttles. They have less hit points and no room for a 3rd ship but make up for it with better maneuverability, better defense an slightly better firepower.
The factions even after wave 8 will still be balanced. There will still be competitive builds for all factions that in the hands of a good player. And the champion list won't make an average player a tournament winner. Sure rebels are getting all the cool toys but nothing that will push Scum and Imperials out of the top of the meta. It just sucks that rebels get the most variety with the top meta tier list while Imperials and Scum are limited to 2 or 3 different top tier lists.

Remind me what faction does Paul play again when he wins the world championships?
Homogenization has already taken place when all the imperial tricks got given to everyone else, how is it fair that superior imp movement can be neutralized by turrets and every edge has been slowly eroded?
Imps have one single pwt, rebels have seven and scum have three (wave eight included) I'm asking for a little balance by imps getting one measly small base turret.
rebels have seven pwts ?
**** I'm behind on my pwt hate
for reference, it has 3 (falcon, K-wing; yt-2400) of which only the YT-1300 can be effectively used as a PWT
this idea that imp maneuverability is somehow negated by the top rebel lists, the top 2 of which contained a single turret and no turrents, is just silly
TLTs in particular can actually be outplayed , unlike PWTs, so there's not much excuse in that direction either
the sad simple fact of the matter is dice have huge sway over the game, sadly, and empire gets cock-blocked by it harder than rebels (though the poor triple-K list got really screwed over vs the 2nd place)
Edited by ficklegreendiceIt just sucks that rebels get the most variety
It should be a scum feature
"Build whatever your loonatic desires dictate, fly that heap of upgrades, stay frosty"
as instead we have Crab Brobots with 2 distinctive builds, BOTH completely revolving around the choice of sensor slot.
and a ton of ships that are unmoddable compared to filthy rebel scum and\or
sick
suck
Scyk
Double Poe Rebs mirror match at Worlds finales.
That's all.
Top 4 was two rebels one scum and one imp. Nathan and Paul are also both well documented as extremely talented players, that mayyyy have played into it.
Imperial's are definitely less forgiving but soontir and vader for thier points are probably the best two pilots in the game, whisper is pretty vicious and tie swarm will never go away.
The game is pretty wide open right now.
If you really want to play a balanced asemetric game just play twice and switch sides.
I think players really need to buckle down and figure out how to fly that tie fo.
