Two Weapon Fighting and Balanced Hilt

By Edsel62, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

A character in my game uses a pair of vibroknives as his chief melee weapons. It paints an interesting picture seeing a Gungan Infiltrator using Frenzied Attack with a pair of vibroknives; its all whirling ears and blades. Last night they were all in a large metropolis and looking at attachments and whatnot for their equipment. The Gungan was thinking about buying Balanced Hilt attachments (Accuracy +1) for his vibroknives which brings up the following points:

  1. If you are using two weapon fighting weapon and the primary weapon has a Balanced Hilt, but the other one doesn't do you still get the boost dice added to your attack, or would you lose the boost die because of the imbalance between the two weapons?
  2. If both of your weapons have the Balanced Hilt attachment would you get only one boost die or would you get two?
  3. Once the group's aspiring Jedi is able to construct a lightsaber I am assuming that Balanced Hilt and Superior Hilt Personalization probably should be limited to one or the other. In fact Balanced Hilt might not even work with a lightsaber hilt at all.

In regards to number 1 & 2 I tend to believe that you should only get the boost die for Accuracy if both of the weapons have Balance Hilts, but I wanted to get other opinions before I am forced to make a ruling on this.

Primary weapon only gets the boost die. This is answered in the sticky thread of dev answered questions.

Regarding the lightsaber attachments, there's a separate list for those that specifically works with lightsabers. While the Superior quality is on that list, I don't believe Balanced Hilt is.

It was all answered in a few threads back... you can look it up for the details and all...

Here is a quick review

Two Weapon Fighting Rules :

1- Choose worst Characteristic (if they use different Characteristics, like a Pistol with a Sword) ;

2- Choose worst Skill (if they use different skills, like a Pistol with a Sword) ;

3- Increase difficulty by 1 if both weapon use the same skill ; increase it by 2 if they use different skill.

4- Choose a main weapon : build dice pool using only that weapon's qualities

5- Roll

6- If you spend 2 advantages to trigger second weapon, you can add effects from this weapons qualities, but not dices (so advantage from superior works, but not Accurate which gives a boost dice)

7- Both weapons add the total uncancelled success to their damage.

8- Both weapons can trigger a critical hit if you have enough advantages to pay for all that (you roll both critical hits)

Enjoy the awesomeness of dual wielding Lightsabers :D

So to answer your questions.

1- You don't need balanced hilt on both weapons, only the main weapon.

2- You only get one boost die.

3- See Krieger22's comment.

Kudos :)
