Anti-Tournament List?

By Darkcloak, in X-Wing Squad Lists

So I have to play TO in an upcoming league and their is a really sick prize on the line! Naturally as X-Wing Club Supreme Leader I won't be competing for the prize, but if there is an odd number of players of if someone misses a night, I need a list to play.

Since I can't win the prize myself, I don't really need to worry about racking up points. Instead I thought I should play a really hard list and make people work for their points. I thought I could do with this with Rebel Ion and Stress control. After a bit of playing I have narrowed the list down to two components that are essential.

A 25 point Ion Turrent Stressbot Goldie and Biggs Darklighter, for 50 points. So what would you add to that to make someones day utter crap? Remember, I'm not interested in stomping on people and destroying their ships, I just want my own MOV to be really hard to take. So what would you do?

Actually, with since my meta is Aces heavy, I'm thinking about taking 4 Rebel Y-Wings all with Ion Turret, one with R3-A2, one with R5-P9, and the rest with R5s.

Give one of those Y-Wings a TLT and it's 100 points.

See I was thinking another Y-Wing with an Ion turret would be great too. Kinda easy to hit, but as long as Biggs is around...

Also, we are only playing 60 minute rounds, if that makes any difference.

Here is a question now, is it worth it in this instance to load up Biggs?

My local group had 2 winter kit tournaments in one week. I received all the prize support from the first week so I decided to throw a wrench into the regular rankings by fielding 7 bug zappers (7 scum Zs w/ feedback arrays) for the second week.

You won't trounce your opponents and might even give them something that they haven't played against. The ace lists had difficulty and I went 3-1 on the day.

It might be something different and they will have to adjust their regular tactics to accomplish a win but its very doable.

My suggestion, if you are not concerned about winning a tournament.

Its never worth it to load up Biggs, really.

1 pt droid to enable integrated astro is all he needs.

No matter what you do though, Biggs is not a 'hard' target. Any list can kill hiim relatively easy unless you can limit the opponent's ability to focus fire on him. So I feel his survivability has more to do with how you make your approach and Biggs' relative position in your squad rather than what upgrades you give him (or lack of)

Hmmm, good point. Biggs is not very hard, but he makes friends harder to kill, and so he is worth his 25 points. I have seen Biggs with SD and R2F2, but then he needs a focus feeder. Not very impressive.

So what makes Biggs annoying? Like BM says, Biggs needs the rest of the list to help him do his job, and this is why I'm thinking Ion control alongside Stress.
