Are the grid squares on the various galaxy maps floating around out there considered Sectors? If not, then is there a sector map available Im missing?

In the sector books Suns of Fortune and Lords of Nal Hutta there is a map of those 2 sectors. But as far as FFG material goes that's it for now.

A few maps with the sectors mapped
hmm, helpful if your game happens to be in the areas worked out. One of the reasons I asked is in regards to the hyperspace travel guidelines which indicate average transit times within a sector. Looks to me like the average sector size is about a quarter of a grid square. That's one way of figuring basic travel times other than the "pull it out of your ..." method.
Edited by rgrove0172I notice after some reading that a few players have adopted the "One day per grid square" rule, which seems right if a sector is indeed the size of a square. (The chart says 10-24 hours within a sector - which would make sense as your either towards the middle or traveling all the way across) Looking at the sector maps that have been provided however, as I mentioned, most sectors aren't half as big. Seems a 48 hour/grid square base travel speed would be closer to the original rule.
Thoughts?
I like one day per grid in hyperspace at class 1. That's a good rule of thumb.
Per the table on p78 Fly Casual, most of the major hyperspace lanes support a travel distance of about two squares/day at rate 1.
Love when companies do that. Publish a supplement months after launch that completely changes the physics of the game universe.

They didn't. You are ignoring a major factor. It has always been that travel along a major hyper space lane is faster. Just like travel along a interstate is faster than along a smaller highway.
Yep your right, totally slipped my mind the mention of increased performance on the lanes. Ive decided to slow travel outside of them to a base 36 hours per square and on the major lanes increasing it to only 12 hours per square. Seems like a reasonable compromise.
One wonders where the Atlas boys are getting the info for the sectors maps? If its just a matter of whipping it up, which it almost certainly has to be, why not complete the whole map and get done with it? I could use those sector designations dang it!

Well considering this is supplemental info for the Atlas and those doing it likely aren't getting paid much to do the additional info...a little bit at a time makes sense. Also I know parts of the sector info comes from WEG info from that game. You can get some of the info. Take a look at Fragments from the rim. Or the Tipani books. etc.
Geeze I wish there was just a list of what sector each world was in. Hate to come up with my own only to have to change them later. Yeah, I know, wouldn't have to but Im funny that way, and some of you are just as bad. Admit it!
If you look up Tatooine in the Wookiepedia http://starwars.wikia.com , you find it is in the Arkanis Sector. Following the link, you find the Arkanis Sector includes the important planets of Geonosis, Sentinel Base system, and the Tatoo System (Tatooine).
The Zygerrian system is in Chorlian sector which has a map sketch and 11 systems listed.
You have every sector mapped here with all (or almost all) canon and legends planets.
Yeah, but incomplete. The Inner Rim and Core have no sector designations yet. Only useful if your out in the Colonies or beyond.
The authors of the Star Wars Atlas have put out a PDF update which lists every known planet, what sector it is in, and what the grid coordinates are. That’s 122 pages of never-ending tables. Phew!
They’ve got more updates on their website, and all of this information is posted in one of the other threads on this forum.
