Scum z95 alpha strike list

By Cliffkump, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Here's the list

N'dru, VI, Concussion Missiles, Glitterstem, Guidance Chip

Black Sun Soldier, Concussion Missiles. Glitterstem, Guidance Chip times 4

Reliable 4 hit attacks that don't grant range bonus to defense and can 1 round a Decimator. I figure the meta this year will be regenerating Rebels and Alpha strikes. I'd like to stick with Scum, so Alpha to counter the Regen seems like the only viable alternative?

Please gear any feedback toward countering regen lists.

Looks like fun. The most difficulty I think you'll have with the list itself is acquiring Target Locks at the right time since anything PS4+ (or 3 and you have initiative) will move after you (and therefore not be in range yet for your TL).

Yes, getting the TL is one of my biggest concerns. I fly them in a tight formation except for N'dru. I won 3 games today against inexperienced opponents. One an all PS 5 list and twice against a PS8, PS4 and 2 PS2s. 2 of the games were extremely close with just 1 and 2 z95s left respectively.

Luckily, I've got enough, that I can block with 1 on the initial close if needed (wasn't needed today).

I like it. I'd highly suggest switching N'dru's loadout to clusters though. I realize you lose the range 3 option (maybe not worth it in this context) but in return you have MUCH higher damage potential. I've just started running him (VI, clusters, stims, GC) with Boba- VI, EU, clusters, slave 1 and the opening strike is frightening. Its a lean boba build (for me) but i'm still tweaking it. These two scare the piss out of pretty much anything . My last game saw bobas opening shot put 7 damage on a decimator then N'dru nearly dropped it. Died the following round.

On your list I'd like to see some tracers in there but I don't see how your gonna properly do that.

Hmmm actually check this:

Talonbane cobra- crackshot (or ps11), thread tracers, chimps

N'dru- VI, stims, clusters, chimps

blacksun solder- concusions, chimps

blacksun solder- concusions, chimps

binayre pirate- chimps

You lose stims on the two bss but thread tracers makes up for that the one round you spend em and TBCs alpha potential sticks around and gives you 2 x ps9 ships.

Or trade talonbane in for a bare yv-666 slaver! but then thats probably just the wine kicking in..

Wow, I really like that. I would call it a better way to guarantee the target lock with better post alpha performance for the cost of 4 damage potential on the alpha. I'd even move the stims to TBC to get that fully boosted tracer. Too many times I've seen 3 hits be laughed off by a Corran or Soontir.

As for the clusters over concussion on N'dru, range 3 is a factor as well as a higher number of dice in 1 shot for those high Agility targets. All three games yesterday, N'dru got 5 hits with his concussions, lets see Soontir dodge that.

What about homing missiles? Still range 3, and they can't use an evade token.

People pretend that Ndru is not reliable at all on the one hand. On the other the claim cluster missiles on Ndru are very good. I am somewhere in the middle and have had very consistent success with homing missiles.

Thanks I came up with it on the fly.. inspired by your list of course. Quite intrigued by it myself. Moving the stims won't accomplish anything since the tracers are focus activated anyway, so in this case crackshot is by far the best value EPT for pushing them through short of a reroll but we can't squeeze that. I've been running the new stuff pretty extensively (tracers/gc/lrs) and high ps delivery with tracers has been pretty insane for me. Vader being my primary delivery mechanism.

Anyway regarding clusters vs concussions try both and see since I haven't used conscussions on N'dru yet. I don't think clusters would work as well in your original list for sure but with cobra it changes things a bit and they are simply brutal against anything <2 AGI. People are very scared of 2x4 fully modified.. its basically a better coran one time.

On homing missiles I feel they still have their place but they are much less desirable for scum due to the options of stims + chimps and considering cost. In this case I think the OP is correct in running concussions + chimps at 1 pt cheaper since the chimps allow for 2 dice mods inherently which should typically result in 4 hits anyway. The list just can't squeeze the extra 2 pts anyway.

My bomber builds otoh still prefer homing missiles because they are packing LRS instead.

Tried cluster missiles on N'dru last night. OMG, they are so good. I won the initiative roll and gave his non-VI Vader the initiative. Made it easy to mosy into range 2 and get the target lock. He'd decided to joust Vader at N'dru, who was off by himself. N'dru one rounded Vader solo, it was glorious.

Not all of your opponents will be so accommodating ;)

N'dru is great when he gets to fire his missiles, but very disappointing when he dies before getting them off. In a tournament, expect either scenario to occur at least once...
