Without going into specifics, what's a general mechanic you'd like to see on a new pilot or upgrade?

I'd love to see some sort of flanking mechanic. For instance: 2 ships that both have the same opponent in arc, while neither of them are in arc of that opponent would get a bonus to attacking that enemy.

Maybe some sort of dice modification, or an extra die, a free action even regardless of stress.

Or heck! Maybe "flanking" could be a new keyword, and various titles could give different effects if the circumstances are met.

And done right, this could be a soft buff to Firesprays, as they have 2 arcs with which to both flank and deny flanking.

I would love to see droids coded with the pilot abilities of named pilots. Like tarn, blue ace, jake farrel. also a droid that gives an evade action with every target lock, like stygium does with cloaking, would be cool. Maybe with adding stress to be balanced.

Like for instance, I'd like to see upgrades that have an option for slots that it takes up(like either missile or torpedo, for instance).

Something (probably an illicit, so that it can buff Scum which really kind of need a buff) that allows you to use more templates when boosting or barrel rolling. My initial though was an illicit for maybe 1 point that says 'When you take a boost or barrel roll action you may take a tractor token. If you do you may use any 1-speed manoeuvre template to barrel roll, or you may additionally use the 1-turn, 2-straight or 2-bank templates to boost'.

Basically, flavour-wise, using a tractor beam to make you swing harder/faster when taking those actions.

Basically, it feels like there's a lot of design space to improve the least competitive faction in the game by using the one slot they have that no-one else does.

Which really means it also ought to be available to every one of their ships. Poor Scyk and StarViper.

I'd like something that makes named pilots more effective against generics. I know game balance > fluff but some pleb just out of the academy shooting down Wedge, Luke or Soonts is just wrong.

Further to this, I kind of feel like it ought to be possible to use illicits to gain any of the action icons onto your action bar. It just seems like the sort of thing you should be able to use them for, and it would allow Scum to be very flexible in building, as long as they were willing to pay for it, which seems kind of appropriate to me.

For some reason 'double edged' cards tend to be droid crew cards. Leebo, R2-D2, that Rebels cartoon droid...

I'd like to see ways to add, remove or otherwise alter the obstacles on the field - perhaps a Bomb upgrade that dropped a token to be treated as a Debris Field, or a Missile upgrade that could remove an Asteroid at Range 1.

I'd also be interested in a mechanic that allowed you some sort of "sideboard". Perhaps a Pilot who whenever you equipped a Missile, Torpedo or Bomb upgrade, you could pick another of equal or lesser value. At the beginning of the game, after your lists were revealed to each other, you could swap out any of your upgrades for the chosen alternatives. It would help specific silver bullet weapons like Assault Missiles get some use if you weren't locked into fielding them against all your opponents.

That would be an auto include card on scum Zs making them stupidly cheap. You could do a 10 swarm.

I'd like a pilot with some built-in "vengeance" ability that lets your other ships take out whoever destroyed them. For example...

"When you are destroyed by an attack from an enemy ship, choose a friendly ship at range 1-3. That ship may immediately perform an attack against the ship that attacked you."

Also would love to see more support-based EPTs and upgrades so dedicated support ships like the Rebel HWKs can perform that role better.

Some sort of wingman mechanics for mid PS pilots, allowing them increased efficiency when working closely together (for example: bonus green/red dice if in range 1 of each other, limited to PS4-6). Something to show they are seasoned pilots who have learned to work together, while the low PS pilots don't have those kind of skills yet. It would help make the mid-PS pilots viable.

Yeah, I really like this idea. Something that encourages synergy and cooperation between your pilots.

I'd like to see an activateable upgrade that lasts until the end of the game. For example: a Finn crew card that, once activated, forces a turreted ship to attack targets only in arc, but gives a ship 2 primary weapon attacks per combat round.this lasts until the end of the match and cannot be turned off.

This provides a "metamorphosis" upgrade dynamic that X-wing is somewhat lacking.
