List Building with Imperials (ISD+?)

By Bensonders, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

Hi,

so I had my first game with and ISDII yesterday and I liked it very much, but since wave 2 was in the army builders I was tinkering around with ISD builds that "felt" right.

My list was:
ISD II
Vader
ECM
XI7
Gunnery Team

VSD1
Gunnery Team

VSD1
Gunnery Team

Squadrons

Tie Fighter x6
Howlrunner

(I went vs 2 AF,1 Neb, 1CR90 1 Xwing, Wedge, Luke, Tycho, Dutch and an A Wing)

I really prefere 3+ ships at 400 points but I find it hard to build a playable list including an ISD.

In the end I won because it was just too much hull for the rebels and my Ties kept the rebel squadrons busy for 3 rounds. All Ties except Howlrunner died, but that was expected.
I knew my opponent would field a lot of squadrons and sadly I lack the Imp Squadron pack to build anything better than mass ties. (I normally play Rebels).

VSD1 are still pretty much underwhelming and the black dice got used only 1 time in the whole game.

The ISD destroyed one AF per round of shooting which was awesome and scared the opponent away from it, which was awesome, too.

I definitely want to keep the ISD as it is, I could upgrade 1 VSD and get rid of the second or directly get another ISD(the later will end friendships, I guess).

Either way it will free enough space for a small or large Fireball.

But 2 ship builds feel so wrong because you sit around and watch the enemy play and you get overwhelmed/outpositioned/focused easily.

But I don't see a way to build long-medium range ships(totally needed vs rebells) with a good squadron screen (absolutly needed in my meta) as an Imperial fleet.

What are your plans/ideas for those lists and what experiences do you have with only 2 ship builds in wave 2?

What about dropping Howlrunner and one of the TIEs to upgrade both VSDIs to VSDIIs? I can't imagine you're using many squad commands in this list, so getting Howlrunner and a bunch of TIEs into place to take full advantage could be difficult anyway. You've still got 5 TIEs this way, which is a bit of a screen.
