Basic, very basic four T-70

By Hexdot, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I have just finished a little 100 pts skirmish in.a LGS, just because it was early in the morning and my opponent a green one, Simply deployed my.4 T-70 rookies, IA plus R5. Ultrabasic.

They did a good job. I know this is not a competitive.list, but perhaps a good way to teach new imperial players. You fly casual the T 70, no need to worry about fixes, ordenance or the like.

Quite balanced fighters, move.after the Academies and focus on Basic Rulebook. Good teaching squad, in my opinion.

I'm not convinced it's not competitive. They're fast, reasonably durable and hard-hitting, and good blockers.

Okay so if that is not a competitive T70 build, can we see some competitive 100pts builds with the T70s?

I agree with Bio, I think 4 blue novices with astro + integrated astro can do fine in a tourney setting. They will have some bad matchups, but they put out a good amount of firepower, especially if you can pick up some target locks (without dying). I would be inclined to go R2 as the 1 pt. droid of choice, simply because it helps off the k-turns/T-rolls to deal with pesky arc-dodgers (your worst matchup)

Can 4 PS2 Pilots be a competitive squad? Probably.your enemy can play cat and mouse with you but, yes, They can take s lot of damage and are hard hitters, no doubt.

I think it comes all down to blocking. One blocker and one shooter can still really do a number on an ace, it's not like TIE Fighters, where a single shooter won't cut it.

R2 + troll = why waste time with r5?

Personally don't think the novices are worth a ****, but I feel the same about anything over 22 points that doesn't have some **** good RNG mitigation

Bio is absolutely right. With R2s instead of R5s, it's a hell of a well-rounded list. Ask MegaSilver.

Yep! R2s are a live saver on T-70s. With the Talon Roll and ability to do a 2 sharp afterwards, you can keep chase of Aces. I managed to keep chase on Vader with my remaining three PS2 T-70s and bring him down to one life before time was called.

I ended up going 3-1 at the tourney, my only lose being to a four TLT BTL list that I mistakingly jousted with.

I am not a competitive guy, but after some LGS games during my holidays I was a little curious about this XXXX basic T 70 squadron. R5 out, R2 in, and yesterday played a couple of games.

Against a miniswarm of Tie/FO plus Vader it proved very efective, Vader destroyed two ships but it was an easy win.

Han plus two B was much harder and a narrow win, brutal green dices more decisive that my mediocre skills.

You can choose bad moves and survive with these ships. And high PS enemies are not unbeatable...PS 2 vs PS 9 or PS 4 vs PS 9... do not matter

One of the really good things about the T70s in general is that your final movement position is pretty variable. You can do a 1-bank or straight, or a 3-bank or 4-staight with boost. Most ships will have the option of going slow to maximize arc on a ship, going fast for a close-range shot, or blocking, and there's often no way for an opponent to predict which choice will be made. Contrast to a TIE Interceptor, which will be going fast, or faster.
