Hi, I'm a new player, and this is probably a dumb question, but. Where are the diagrams of the skirmish maps? I have the skirmish mission cards, but i can't find the mission setup diagrams anywhere(just the example one on page 8).

They are printed on the folded paper inserts of each of the ally and villain packs.

If you just have the Core Set (possible, since you said you're a new player), then look for the 8.5x11 folded paper sheets that came with Luke and Vader. Those are the Rulesheets, and one side has the Campaign Mission made specifically for them, while the other side has the Skirmish map diagram (and the list of tiles needed to construct it) as well as the rest of the details you'll need to run the skirmish battle on that map (depending on which Skirmish Mission you choose, A or B).

They included the Vader/Luke Rulesheets cards in the Core Set so that you'd get used to them. All of the individual blister-pack characters (Han, Chewie, Boba, etc) have the same kind of setup and organization. There is also a skirmish map printed on the back of the Skirmish Rulebook. In total, there are 3 skirmish maps in the Core Set (on the Rulebook, Vader, Luke).

Thanks, found em. I got the game 2nd hand and all the contents were mixed together. Didn't realise 4 of the mission cards came with Luke and Vader. Almost finished painting all the minis in the starter, have avoided opening any of the expansions until they're done.

I did this (stupid me) I only saw the "contained in this box" part and thought it was rubbish. Is there any other way to get the skirmish maps? Do FFG provide pdf versions (like rules reference etc?)

You could contact their support for missing components. They might be able to send you replacement sheets.

I'm not sure if they're available as PDFs.
