Omega Leader Loves Vessery, ATC

By digitalbusker, in X-Wing Battle Reports

I played a game last night with:

Omega Leader, PtL, Comm Relay

Omega Ace, PtL

Epsilon Squadron Pilot

Soontir Fel, with Fel stuff

Vs:

Colonel Vessery, PtL, Ion Cannon, TIE Mk 2, TIE/D

2x Storm Squadron Pilot, Homing Missiles, TIE/x1, ATC

The Epsilon died early, when his block left him exposed, and the Baron nearly died to an early Range 3 Homing Missile (one crit got through: Direct Hit, which he carried for the rest of the game).

Other than that, things went well. I was able to set up several Range 1 three crit shots from Omega Ace, and Omega Leader did lots of work too. Part of the issue with him was that my opponent didn't realize going in that Omega Leader's ability would stop both ATC and Vessery's Target Locks. Certainly if two or more ships had focused on Omega Leader they could have burned him down without too much trouble, but he never seemed like the biggest threat, so while my opponent was chasing Baron Fel, the Omegas were able to predict who'd be shooting at them.

I might consider dropping the Comm Relay on Omega Leader for Weapon Guidance, because not wanting to spend my Target Lock left me with a blank and a hit several times.

I think Weapons Guidance is a solid change. If you're not relying on Juke to power stuff through, then increasing your damage output is pretty reasonable. Do you think PTL/Guidance is better than Juke, though? I suppose it's more defensively oriented, allowing you to stack tokens easier, and with WG, it's pretty offensively flexible as well.

I jumped straight to PtL for Omega Leader because I'm used to flying Interceptors, but maybe Juke would be better. Flipping an evade down to an eye that you then can't modify is pretty nasty. I wonder if it would make him enough of a threat that he becomes the first target priority, though.

Juke is pure **** gold. Use it

Do it!

Juke it!

not only is it the most **** fun experience in the game, shutting down lucky ass green dice and ruining (enemy) soontir's ****, but it leaves that amazing dial open.

PtL is certainly fun on Omega Leader, but, as Fickle mentioned, you want that dial available. Slooping is a perfect way to piss in someone's Maneuverio's. Also explaining to opponents that they can't use their Focus on a Juked die is gratifying.

Also, in case you come up against defensive-minded opponents: Sensor Jammer cannot be used against Omega Leader if he has that ship locked, since OL's text prevents ANY modification.
