hi folks since 25th Dec been hitting this marvelous game.Played with my grandson yesterday and he loved it.

i want to get him 2 ships 1 rebel one empire as a gift can you suggest 2 ships easy to use and fun from the expansion packs,only issue dont have the dollars for any large ships!!

I personally love A Wings. They're also quite compact and hard to break, so that is an added benefit. X wings are the hallmark of the game, as are Tie Fighters, so those are solid ships as well. The Tie Advanced is a cool ship with Vader, too.

I would pick up a T-70 and TIE F/O if he has seen TFA. Also agree with the A-Wing or maybe a Y-Wing. I like Y-Wings personally, but it really comes down to preference.

Definitely X-Wing and TIE Advanced. Then you can sit him down to watch "A New Hope" and he'll learn exactly which zooming and shooting noises to make. Win - Win!

As a fellow X-Wing beginner I can vouch for A-Wings, X-Wings (Both variants), Tie Interceptors and Tie fighters (Either variant) as being fun expansions.

For the rebels I think it has to be the Y-wing. It's a nice solid ship that plays quite differently from the x-wings. It has the ability to mount a turret, and having a ship with a 360 fire arc really changes the dynamic of the game.

For the imperials I think it's a toss-up between the Tie advanced and Tie interceptor.

The interceptor I think is the better ship, but the advanced can take Darth Vader as a pilot... I'm not sure how you can top that.

How about the Millennium Falcon? Buy it online and it will be cheaper. You don't have to get him 2 since the Falcon is a large ship. But you could still get him a little TIE/fo as another Imperial ship.

Or the TIE Interceptor. It comes with different pilots from the Imperial Aces double Interceptor pack.
