I Stress - IG88B-C built for stress.

Any pointers would be great. I am playing on saturday Jan 9. I know Wired contradicts Glitterstim, but only for one turn. Other than that you get a constant boost every time you reverse course, or go up against a stress build. I do believe I will see at least one stress build.

The two cannons-

Mangler- give crits to large hull ships

Flechette- give stress to limit enemy maneuvering.

Thanks,

Drop the Flechette Cannons, downgrade Sensors to FCS, give both HLCs.

It seems Inertial Dampeners combos better with what you are trying to achieve since, as you point out, Glitterstim and Wired don't combo well.

That saves two points which could be spent on upgrading to Ion Cannons which also prevent K-turns and just does a better job of corralling the enemy.

Also consider switching to D instead of C, he just gives you more options for your stressful moves that you seem to want to be able to do.

That being said self stressing from maneuvers does not work well with Advanced Sensors since you can't sensor again next turn, so consider swapping to out for FCS or find 2 points for Jammers maybe.

I'm not a fan of just leaving Wired as an insurance policy against stress but if you are, then go for it. I guess that while advanced sensors/wired is a bit an awkward interaction (setting up for wired prevents you using AS next turn) it does at least leave you lots of options.

Change Advanced sensors to Jammers for a better evade, and Glitterstim to internal dampeners. I am not thinking Wired is a insurance policy, more like an edge when I use the reverse.

HLCs are great, but I find they take a while to do damage to large hull ships like the Falcon, and Decimator. They are great for punching through shields though I will give them that. They just don't cripple them to give me an edge.

I find that Advanced Sensors works better with VI. If you put crack-shot and glitterstim instead its better to use FCS.

If you are using FCS w/ your HLC's you will end up being able to spend TL's to modify HLC rolls and generate some crits still. It won't be as many as with the Mangler but the extra attack die per attack is a really important for the IG's whether you are generating crits or not. With just 2 attacks per round you need to be able to do as much damage as possible each round.

The more I look into it, stress build just doesn't function like I was hoping it would.

Flechettes have a too low damage output when playing with only 2 ships...

1. Flechettes must hit to stress. and most stress-fearing foes aren't easily hit at all

2. Flechettes don't stress already stressed foes, and most times they are PTLers.

???
FFG tried hard to make Flechette a DERPy weapon, and succeeded.

They were worried about overdoing it. Well, they made sure in their caution...

Kinda makes you think they should FAQ the whole double stress thing entirely.

...that it's so bad nobody wants to take it anyway

It really a pity, that the flechette cannon cannot stack stress. Right now it is barely worth it on one flanking Stress Scyk.
