I was playing a league game last night at my FLGS and in our league we have achievements. I was trying to ion a ship off the board to earn that achievement. I shot my ion torps and they hit. My question is does the ship suffer the damage and the ion effect? The card does not state to cancel the dice results. It states if the attack hits the targeted ship and ships at range 1 receive an ion token. So my opponent and I decided the ship would suffer the damage and the ion effect.

Your target suffers any uncancelled hits and crits. Note that this is not like most other Ion weapons that cancel all results and just do 1 damage and an Ion token. You have a 4-die attack that can be modified like normal and it does damage like a normal attack, as well as dishing out an Ion token to the defender and every other ship at Range 1 of him.

It's excellent against a tight formation of ships, just be sure to keep your ships clear.

If the attack hits...... reads the card so you get to hit your opponent he suffers the damage and on top of this all he and his range 1 buddy's get ionized.

The Ion Torp not only hands out ion tokens it also deals unrestricted damage.
