Bombs

By gambit1977, in X-Wing Rules Questions

When exactly do they get droped. Is it during th actavation of the ship before it moves.

It depends on the bomb.

Some are dropped when revealing your dial, others as your action.

For Proton Bomb, Seismic Charge, and Ion Bomb, it's just before you reveal your maneuver dial (unless you use the ability of the Salvaged Astromech "Genius"), and does not require an action.

For Proximity Mines, Cluster Mines, and Conner Nets, it's an action, taken whenever you would normally take an action.

The only thing preventing you from dropping a dial-reveal bomb, performing your maneuver, and then dropping an action bomb is the specific rule that says you can't drop more than one bomb in a single round.

It's a relatively common shorthand for players to refer to the action bombs as "mines", but it's important to note that for most game purposes they're just as much bombs as any of the dial-reveal ones.

I knew the mines and c nets were actions thank you for clarifying this for me

Another thing to remember is for Proximity Mines, Cluster Mines, and Conner Nets, because it's an action, if you're stressed you can't drop them. A lot of newer players think of them as an attack and forget action restrictions like stress.

And keep in mind you can only trow 1 bomb per round.

so don't think you can trow 1 bomb before moving and 1 with an action. that is not aloud :)

So i drop move and then take action thank you all very much

It depends entirely on the bomb. Some are dropped before moving, some are dropped as an action.

Correct that was covered earliier

This is my favorite mechanic in the game. If you do it right, you can do more damage with just bombs than you can with trying to shoot those high agility ships.

Ive used mines in past and am trying some bombs with mixed results

I used Cluster Mines in my last game and they were a dismal failure. I'm not convinced by bombs or mines as yet.

Cluster mines are pretty bad really. they just don't reliably do enough damage.

Conner Nets, though, are awesome and Seismics and Proton bombs can be good if you can maneuver stuff into a good position.

Bombs are overpriced and in most cases aren't easy to use.

Too easily avoided by most bomb-prone targets as well.

???

Wait for them to get upped.

We already saw Deathrain, Genius droid and Emon.

who knows, maybe one day bombs won't suck scyk

Seismic Charges have the best damage to cost ratio in the game, mate.

Proton Bombs terrify Swarms and Aces alike.

Conners' Nets are just nuts.

Hell, even Proximity Mines have their place.

awkwardly placed, avoided by the aces who didn't forget their BR\Boost at home

and don't generally concern the fat regen-TLT meta we have right now any way

yep, the swarm hates the Seismic.

nothing else...

You don't put Prox mines on the table, silly. You put it directly on the ace.

You know the one that doesn't move between planning phase and when you move?
