Rebel player losing an activation or not ?

By Kieffer, in Imperial Assault Rules Questions

I'm actualy playing my first core box campaign as the Empire.

My opponent is playing with 3 rebel heroes and received as indicated in the rules an additional activation token (so 4 activation tokens for 3 heroes).

Today we had a first time issue about Activations and Withdrawn heroes.

I wounded one of the heroes then two turns later i made him withdraw from the board being reduced again to zero health remaining (or maximum damage received).

What is the consequence of the withdrawal of a hero from the mission (by wounds sustained) on Activation tokens of the rebel player ?

I searched in my reference rulebook (i have the French version of the rules so maybe the layout is different) and cannot find a rule indicating if the rebel player is either keeping 4 tokens for only two heroes on the board or losing one activation token as a consequence of the rebel team being reduced in number.

Could someone enlighten me about this topic ? It would be very helpful.

If there is a mention in the rulebook please show me the way or quote the rule to use.

Regards.

Kieffer

PS : French player, so please forgive my written english.

The legendary Reward card grants one additional activation token to the Rebels as a group. 1 hero claims the token at the beginning of a mission and that passes it to a different hero each turn.

Each hero has 1 activation token by default. When a hero is defeated they are removed from the map and can no longer activate. Their token cannot be claimed by any other figure. There is nothing in the rules that allows this. The Heroic extra activation token can be claimed by a new hero at the end of the round.

So each time a hero is defeated the number of Rebel activations decreases by 1.

Unfortunately I can't quote many rules about this. The description of the behavior of the Heroic activation token is described on the card and the section on Defeated figures is on page 10.

The way rule sets work you should generally do what is explicitly allowed not what is not disallowed. No rule allows a hero to claim a defeated hero's activation token so the Rebels will not maintain their current number of activations when a hero is defeated.

Thank you for the quick answer.

It's gonna be very handy for our next sessions. ;)
