Auto Fire again, sorry

By zhentil, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Okay, looking at the rules for auto fire, i read it as the following.

You add another purple dice, then you upgrade one dice if you want to START with auto fire.

In order to get the extra shots, you need 2 advantage...

So if I have 3 yellow dice and 1 green and 1 blue dice, along with 2 purple and 1 red, the total is 3 hits and 4 advantage, i can then use the 4 advantage to make 2 extra hits...right.

I am pretty sure you don't upgrade.

It is declare intent to auto fire, add a purple to the difficulty(which is the highest difficulty of eligible targets) and spend 2 advantages to activate shots.

The die result above would be three successful shots at +3 damage.

I am pretty sure you don't upgrade.

Agreed, I'm not sure where this:

...then you upgrade one dice if you want to START with auto fire.

...is coming from. There whole attack is autofire, so there is no "start with".

sorry just been reading way to many posts about auto fire lol. thank you for your responses.

You upgrade when you use two weapons together.

You add difficulty, when using Autofire.

You add difficulty when two-weapon fighting, too.

AoR CRB pg. 224: He then compares the difficulty of the two combat checks he would make with each of his two weapons to hit his target, and selects the check with the higher difficulty. He then increases the difficulty by 1 if the two skills in the combined check were the same, and by 2 if they were different. He then makes the check.

So then how does the Jury Rig Combo work then.

Jury Rig can reduce the number of advantages needed to activate Auto Fire from 2 to 1.

Thus your above example would be 5 hits at +3 damage, with Jury Rigged Auto Fire.

1 difficulty added to the base difficulty of whatever range you are engaging the target at. If you choose to engage multiple targets it's the target whose base difficulty that is the most difficult to hit that you roll against.
