Savage Spirits - The Seeker Sourcebook

By Donovan Morningfire, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny RPG

Now I am wishing this book came out earlier --- looks like I could have used the Navigator as another F&D Specialization instead of going w/ Fringer

Generally good form for a GM to allow a remake on a character if new stuff comes out that better matches the character.

I've stacked the Artisan & Fringer --- depending on the skills & talents, it might be a rebuild rather than a tweak. Mostly I have Fringer for the astrogation & piloting talents, but I don't have Pilot(space) as a skill focus. If the Navigator has that, It would be much more in character.

Bah! Stupid boat! Hurry it up!

(Insert meme here)

The boat should arrive on May 17th or 18th. Have patience, young Penguin!

I'm very interested in this one, as I really want to know if Keeping the Peace sets any standards for what to expect in F&D books (ie is there always another Lightsaber career? How about Force Dice?)

I'm even MORE interested as to what comes next though.

Funny there haven't been any subsequent announcements. Even odder there's no other things announced for the overall release schedule.

Really hope we get something; if SS comes out with nothing on the horizon announced, my conspiracy tinfoil hat will go into overdrive...

Well, based upon the short descriptions we got of the new specs, I don't see any of them having the Lightsaber skill as a bonus career skill. Armorer in KtP kind of made sense, given it very much had a Jensaarai vibe to it and needed a way to stand out a bit more from the other combat-centric specs in that book other than "I make really good use of armor."

And I agree with the sentiment that most of FFG's printing resources are tied up in the high volume of reprints they are doing. They may well have new books in the queue, but are holding off until they have a more solid idea when those books will go to print.

I dunno, the Executioner seems like it could have the Lightsaber skill. If you had given me the spec names Executioner and Armorer with no other info, I would say that the Executioner would be more likely to have lightsaber as a career skill.

I'm really hoping for some news on May 4th. That, Celebration & GenCon seem like the big venues for announcements, I would think.

It quite heavily implied Executioners prefer killing from range with no chance of retaliation. I think it will be the Assasin of Seekers where Hunter is the Big Game Hunter. More stealth and big crits.

Looks good. I really like the Hermit.

Also, I hope one of the species is Miraluka, the Force Power seems to suggest so.

I asked for a hint for one of the species on Facebook, and was told "Think tall, with 6 limbs"...so I've got my fingers crossed fo Codru-Ji.

I'm thinking that your buddy just violated his NDA, and got my fingers crossed that FFG never finds out who it was...

<_<

It was on the FFG official announcement, and the "Think tall, with 6 limbs" was posted by FFG!

so either we got a rare hint, or someone in PR is in a meeting at the moment!

My money would be on Besalisks, Tall, 6 limbs, known canon Jedi Master in the clone wars.

Tall with six limbs sounds more likely to be Quermians to me. Like Master Poof (I can't make this stuff up).

They are already in Special modifications...They seem to have moved away from duplicating.

Quermians are not in Special Modifications . Beyond that, I'm not sure what you mean. Lead by Example and Keeping the Peace were both fairly recent and they both gave us the Lanniks.

Yeah, I'm kinda leaning towards Besalisks myself. As HappyDaze noted, they're still doing duplication of species across product lines (Quarren are in Fly Casual and Strongholds of Resistance as another instance), though I hope we don't have the issue we had with Lanniks if it is Besalisks that show up in Savage Spirits.

Could be either, but I'm #teamQuermian myself.

I am wondering if this book will be sold again. It is currently out of stock. Ebayers are selling them for $75 to $80. Does FFG plan to make more?

As usual when this question comes up, the Upcoming page at the top is your friend. Savage Spirits is listed as being On the Boat , which means FFG has already made more and they're being shipped to their warehouse for distribution.

At the very most, you shouldn't have to wait more than six to eight weeks. However, I notice they went On the Boat the same day as Ghosts of Dathomir , so, optimistically, there's a chance that you'll only have three weeks left to wait, assuming they start shopping the same day as Ghosts . And assuming Ghosts actually starts shipping soon...

Does anybody know more about it? It seems like a reaaaaly slow boat. They shipped it in march and now its august. Somalian pirates again? Or hondo and his crew?

Several people have reached out to FFG for information. In another thread, one posted a reply that stated the shipment was "redirected," and all of the books in that shipment were having to be reprinted and reshipped.

The current theory is that they were in the same shipping container as the first printing of Ghosts of Dathomir , and that container was so badly waylaid that they needed to reprint the books in their entirety. What happened to waylay that container, we're not sure (as Nytwyng said, FFG has claimed it was "redirected," which could mean denied at customs, literally redirected to a port where FFG can't access them, or perhaps even fell off the ship and are now teaching fish how to have adventures in a galaxy far, far away).

My hope is that we'll get them soon. Here's the math:

--An item is typically On the Boat for 6-7 weeks (~46.88 days) before it starts shipping.

--FFG had to have been informed of the issue likely no later than this amount of time after Ghosts of Dathomir went On the Boat , which was March 10, and then immediately had to order a new printing.

--Emergency printing slots are likely hard to get, but essentially, we can assume that getting those slots, reprinting the books, and getting a new shipping container here would take, on average, the same amount of time as the normal first three steps.

--Before this issue, books were In Development for an average of ~39.14 days, with a maximum of 73 days; books took an average of 34.14 days (maximum of 74) At the Printer , and then, as mentioned above, ~46.88 days On the Boat , with a maximum of 71.*

--If we assume that it took an average boating time for FFG to be notified of the incident, they were notified around April 26. If we add in the average time for all the other steps, we get April 26 + 39.14 + 34.14 + 46.88 = August 24. This would be our average time, based on the data, for both Ghosts and Savage Spirits (which is the one we care about in this instance) to start shipping. Add two weeks for delivery, and they are available again at FFG's store on September 7.

--Of course, if we assume the maximum amount of time, because of the scramble and delays that emergency situations like this cause, then things are a bit longer. With a maximum timeframe, FFG was notified of the issue on May 22, and we would have to wait until May 22 + 73 + 74 + 71 = December 26, or around Christmas for the books to come out. ...That would suck...

Here's hoping it's closer to the first one and not the latter, then!

* These numbers start from the time I began tracking data, which was right around December of 2015.

Ah guys u r awesome. My post was more an expression of pure desperation and i didn t realy expect a good answer. But this realy helps to ease the pain!

Thanks for the info, I've been waiting on this and a few other things for a while.

:( :(

Any rough guesstimate for how long fully operational is going to be?

It was likely on the same boat as ghosts of dathomir...sadly.
