Savage Spirits - The Seeker Sourcebook

By Donovan Morningfire, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny RPG

Tall with six limbs? Quermians, maybe?

Also, in case nobody noticed, the product page names the new force power: Farsight .

Executioner sounds a lot like Big Game Hunter, with Dark Side force talents mixed in, Yikes! im guessing tracking and vigilance related stuff.

Farsight sounds fun, i can see EotE Explorer/FSE characters using that a lot.

Looks good. I really like the Hermit.

Also, I hope one of the species is Miraluka, the Force Power seems to suggest so.

I asked for a hint for one of the species on Facebook, and was told "Think tall, with 6 limbs"...so I've got my fingers crossed fo Codru-Ji.

Tall... Maybe Besalisk.

The philosophy of the gamer:

"I want my class's splat-book next! Unless there's power-creep... then I want it last."

I am curious as to how farsight will be different from seek and farsee. I imagine it's a more immediate observation technique that is able to have direct line of sight within a particular range band. e.g. being able to observe a conversation at extreme range as if you were there without the potential gm handwaving that is often accompanied by seek/farsee.

Seek is "where's the thing I'm looking for?", and Foresee is "what's going to happen in the future?"

Could be Farsight will be "what's currently happening at such-and-such a place that I can't see with the naked eye?" I suspect that it'd start out with just letting you see things at further ranges than the ol' Eyeball Mark 1 would permit, with a Mastery Upgrade that lets you view events occurring in different parts of the galaxy. I'm guessing Strength Upgrades would be similar to Foresee in that they grant you extra clarity in what you see, and Range Upgrades to boost the range bands you can clearly observe things again. Again, pure supposition but there might even be a Control Upgrade or two that helps you out in combat, like committing a Force die to completely ignore concealment-type effects.

Yea... It's cool to have friends on the inside, and if they give you hints of info, but don't speak it to the internet. That's when people get slapped with fines.

Gah, my excitement for the F&D Career Books are almost as high as my anticipation for the Corebook last year...

It's going to be a nerve-wracking few years...

:D

I look forward to every book and have not been disappointed yet. I am the GM and buy them all. My group games at my place so the books are always available.

Same here

I think this is far more likely considering one of the new specializations seems to focus on taking out things at range.

Indeed it will be, and we'll be "enjoying" every minute of it.

That said, while it was awesome and all to be able to playtest Keeping the Peace, I'm looking forward to a career book that I didn't help playtest, just so that all the new material is indeed shiny and new. As opposed to looking through the books that Squadron 66 did playtest and trying to pick out what changed between playtest and final copy.

Part of Farsight could work to enhance Perception too in a similar way to the Enhance basic power.

It was on the FFG official announcement, and the "Think tall, with 6 limbs" was posted by FFG!

so either we got a rare hint, or someone in PR is in a meeting at the moment!

It would be interesting if Farsight had an upgrade that let you remotely use other powers through it. Like a way to explain force choking someone over holo-call :)

...did I mis that?

It seems like a good chunk is reprinting of materials. Not that I mind, but the bow is from Corellia, we already have the optical camo. I'm hoping for expanded beast taming rules.

Executioner actually seems more likely to be a reskinned Sharpshooter from the Commando book.

Which will work nicely with my Darkside poisoned dart Air Rifle Jedi Hunter....

On the official FFG Facebook group, I commented on the announcement post for this book asking for "one tiny hint to one of the new species?" and the official FFG account replied back with "think tall with 6 limbs". So not exactly an "official announcement" about a species, but something kinda close.

AH! Well, that clears that up, then!

:D

All things considered, I'd say Besalisk is most likely to fit that description, as one of their hats is 'adventurer', so it's possible.

And if Special Modifications does include Besalisk, that would make two sets of AoR/F&D career books share a species; Keeping the Peace/Lead by Example have Lannik, and Special Modifications/Savage Spirits would have Besalisk.

They need mother-f**king Rathtars! ;)

I for one am excited at every career book, even if it's not a career I'm particularly interested in. The specs, gear, ships, etc. are so **** useful, fun, etc. I am consistently pleased at this line and can honestly say it's my favorite TTRPG to date.

Anybody else like how we get cover art work for books even if they are in development? I always love that about the announcements.

Now I am wishing this book came out earlier --- looks like I could have used the Navigator as another F&D Specialization instead of going w/ Fringer
