Is there overlap between a huge ship and a small/large ship base if the small/large ship base has a final location between the plastic bases of a large ship...

• and crosses the imaginary line created by the huge ship plastic bases, but is not under the cardboard of the huge ship base?
• has part of the plastic base underneath the cardboard of the huge ship base?

(There is no contact between any of the plastic bases of the small/large ship and the huge ship.)

What if a bomb (i.e. Cluster Bomb or Conner Net token) ends up in this gap? Will it detonate?

The huge ship rules for overlaping talks about any of the ships "sections" overlapping, not bases. Sections are defined as the plastic base and the corresponding half of the ship token.

So the "imaginary line" is of no relevance, but the cardboard between bases are very much counting for overlapp.
