Mon Mothma 400 pt

By SoloOne, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

I made this list thinking to try and leverage Mon Mothma after almost exclusively sticking with Dodonna (both for cheapness and overall usability (I haven't tried Ackbar yet but I like to be a little different and not run the same thing as others). The point is to use all small ships, no carrier (another change for me as I love me some carrier builds) that can get in and bring the pain while being survivable. Here goes:

-Neb B Escort Frigate (101 pts)

- Mon Mothma

- Projection Experts

- Redemption

MC30c Torpedo Frigate (82 pts)

- Ordnance Experts

- ACM

- Foresight

MC30c Torpedo Frigate (87 pts)

- Ordnance Experts

- ACM

- Admonition

-Walex Blissex

-Corellion Corvette B (49 pts)

-NK-7 Ion cannons

Han Solo

3x YT-2400s

=393 Total Points

Objectives:

Most Wanted

Fleet Ambush

Minefields

Corellian Corvette uses ion cannons to kill off some braces, Torpedo boats strip shields with ACM while being hard to target with high speed and mon mothma evades, and Redemption gives extra repair points and shields with projection experts to keep my torpedo boats afloat.

The YTs/Han Solo hunt squadrons with some flak help from the Neb B.

The only thing is that there is only 17 total hull points across 4 ships which mean APT will hurt. I also worry about bomber builds. Anybody have thoughts? Will the exclusion of ECMs hurt? Thanks.

I dont see you getting value out of Redemption on the field of battle. I'd be more inclined to put Mothma on a corvette A w/ Jaina's light and turbolaser reroute circuits

I like the list, only thing i'm dubious about is redemption, but I dislike neb b overall so IMMV.

IMO you need to consider if those 71 points, which is a lot, aren't better spent elsewhere: even a salvation could be better, providing the extra bit of damage that can make the difference between a severed ship running away and a destroyed ship. TRC- 90 is another fun - although abused - option.

I wouldn't worry about hull points much, anyway, and that's because of the added survivability that Mon Mothma provides to all your ships.

In short, this is how I'd run the list:

Faction: Rebel Alliance
Points: 397/400

Commander: Mon Mothma

Assault Objective: Most Wanted
Defense Objective: Hyperspace Assault
Navigation Objective: Minefields

MC30c Torpedo Frigate (63 points)
- Admonition ( 8 points)
- Walex Blissex ( 5 points)
- Ordnance Experts ( 4 points)
- Assault Concussion Missiles ( 7 points)

MC30c Scout Frigate (69 points)
- Foresight ( 8 points)
- Lando Callriassian ( 4 points)
- Ordnance Experts ( 4 points)
- Turbolaser Reroute Circuits ( 7 points)
- Assault Concussion Missiles ( 7 points)

CR90 Corvette B (39 points)
- Jainas Light ( 2 points)
- Overload Pulse ( 8 points)

[ flagship ] Nebulon-B Support Refit (51 points)
- Mon Mothma ( 30 points)
- Salvation ( 7 points)

3 YT-2400s ( 48 points)
1 Han Solo ( 26 points)

Reasoning: to really abuse mon mothma, one of your MC 30 has to be the scout version, that goes with TRC to make good use of those 2 evades and to provide maximum damage potential. One luxury addition is also Lando, which in combo with mon mothma & foresight makes the ship really difficult to kill.

Other MC 30 is the same as yours, and again is a hard nut to crack due to admonition & blissex.

On the corvette i think that OP is better than NK 7, because you're aiming for short range mayhem, and if I were your opponent I'd surely discard evades on your crits, making that a wasted upgrade.

Salvation Neb b is there to provide long range support and a safe spot for mon mothma, that's why projection experts in gone. I'd fly it safe, as salvation always does, intercepting survivors to your fast runners alpha strike.

Speaking of objectives, I think hyperspace assault is better for you than fleet ambush, because admonition makes such a great job at it.

My 2 cents, hope this helped.

By cutting down on upgrades, you can easily field Mothma in an AF2b with ECMs for barely over the cost of that Redemption. Drop Han, go with another YT-2400 and give yourself some muscle. And an AF2 is a great beefy threat ship that can stand back to cover the CR90.

I might also run double Torpedo Frigates. The ability to get extra accuracy from the blues is far more useful than yet another 2 damage that will be braced away at the cost of one of your most important defense tokens.

He, friendly reminder that reds have accuracy too.

Being a gambler myself, I prefer reds over blue in almost all cases, but again, IMMV.
