Loku is a spy so using slippery target command card definitely can help him move out of turn as well -

So is Leia.

And the sabateurs :) it'd be a good card for my list, even maybe 2 of them. And if you wanted to put Mak in instead he's also a spy. But I feel it really helps with Loku, assuming the enemy comes to melee, with moving outside his turn.

I want to use Verena against Vader. And she'll often be focused because of Gideon/C3P0, so she'll be able to punch through his armor quite easily. But with 11 Health for 8 Cost...she's a bit on squishy side, especially for a piece that has to get into the thick of things in order to do her job.

Medical Droid. Use the Medical Droid. As I posted earlier, if timed well you can set up grunts to screen, use her close to the end of the round to run in on a powerful figure, strike hard and then back out to be healed the next round. Very little can threaten an 11 Health figure with a single attack.

Yep, I'll definitely try her out a few times. And MHD is interesting too. I'll have to see how strong Healing is in a game that is as fast as IA is.

In my experience the healing was VERY effective. But his command card was a game saver. Coupled with Leia and R2, the chance of using his command card more than once in a skirmish mission is pretty good, and would be extremely annoying to the opponent. Since you have to be within 3 spaces to use heal and miracle worker, you can prevent a character's defeat and bring them back up to 6 health in the same round that they would be defeated otherwise. Very nice.

I got to try several of the new hoth characters yesterday in skirmish and here are my thoughts: (list was Gideon with diplo, Verena, Biv, Loku, elite sabs, and elite echo troopers)

* Loku - awesome for only 4 points, while he can only hit range 4 while moving, he does get 5 moves. People tend to ignore him, and he can do a lot of hit and run back into cover things. He earned his points in both matches I played.

* Verena - I really like her. She is as tough as a wookie (actually slightly tougher with the intrinsic anti-surge) and can hit really hard against hard hitting opponents.

* On a diplomatic mission - This card is now an auto-include with gideon in my opinion. It was earning 4-5 points a match, more than paying for itself and gideon not counting for the focus and movement gideon did.

* Elite echo base troopers - these guys I don't think were quite worth it. Yes they have a lot of health, but their combat suit didn't come into play very often (and when it would the enemy just did a weaken instead of pierce 1). But they just felt like overcosted troopers.

* I know Biv came from Twin Shadows, but I'd like to remark how poor a figure he is in skirmish. He fell really flat in both matches.

Figures I fought against from Hoth:

* elite wampa - this thing looks scary, but it falls apart fast and doesn't hit hard enough to justify its slow speed and point cost.

* elite HKs - these guys are cool, but I stand by that they are too squishy.

* snowtroopers - These guys were annoying, you have to pop whole figures or else they'll just heal up together. The amount of healing capable from just 2 groups of snow troopers is disgusting.

I agree, Gideon should always have Diplomatic Mission.

You felt the Wampa was weak because of speed issues? Did you make use of the hunger ability?

I can't wait to play Hoth, but my life is over-encumbered.

What about Dengar

In my limited opinion, I think Dengar's worth is based upon 2 things:

1) The strength of enemies he's fighting. Stunning a Stormtrooper is a waste of time. Stunning Darth Vader is a glorious thing.

2) His ability to survive. If he stuns Vader once, then someone kills him, he was a waste of points.

Hunger was utilized, its just they don't deal with diagonals very well. A wampa in the cantina is not a good place for it. It got chewed up only being able to attack once. My daughter played against a guy that brought 5 wampas and they got chewed up too. They look good on paper, but I think it relies too much on getting surges on the red die (or getting focused which I've yet to see someone do).

Elite snowtroopers were a major letdown for me - lack of reroll and surge for +2 dmg and a focus from last stand really hurt their damage output - they were doing an average of 1-2 damage on black die figures. Would choose elite stormies over snowies anytime

P.S. was running 1 elite stormies and 1 elite snowies in a weiss list. It miiiiigh be a good idea to try including 2 groups of snowies and try to overwhelm your opponent with healing possibilities but still, if they cant put out enough damage thats no good

I feel the greatest strength of the Snowtroopers is their ability to heal. I plan on getting the regular ones, keep them back, then move them up and heal others on their activation.
