Store Champ Merc List Feedback pls

By Rogue Dakotan, in Imperial Assault Skirmish

Store champs are coming up and I'm trying to figure out a list.

I love playing Boba.

I want to do a merc list.

This is what I'm thinking of trying at the moment. I'm having a hard time locking down a merc list I like.

I haven't tried this yet but any feedback would be appreciated.

Here's an alternative that ditches Boba. not sure i like it as much.

never tried the HKs yet, or Explosive armaments, but the combination of the two seems pretty potent.

Looks fun.

I really like Hired Guns even though others are not big fans.

I'd recommend swapping the Elite Hired Gun and MHD-19 out for 2 pairs of Regular Hired Guns and Gideon.

MHD-19 isn't an offensive powerhouse, and he has very few targets to hit with Medical Loadout. I'm afraid so many of your units have 4 health that he won't get much use. Boba's got enough defense on his own without needing any healing, and that leave just the Trando's and himself for MHD to reliably target.

Gideon on the other hand can give our more focus to yoru hired guns giving them three dice attacks on death while they work on completing objectives.

In other news I do really like your list idea. I think using Boba to take down enemies while the Hired Guns focus on objectives and snipe when they can is a great strategy! With the extra focus from 3P0 and Gidon you can make Boba a 4 dice attacker, or the Trandoshans 3 dice attackers :)

yeah that makes sense. I was just excited to get MHD into a list. Didn't occur to me that most of my guys will be dead before he can heal them probably.

We'll see if I feel like purchasing a 3rd batch of hired guns. I only have 2 right now.

Hmm hmm hmm.

I am liking the look of that. I ran two groups of regular hired guns at worlds. They die fast. but with this many on the board maybe they can do something.

That 5 speed is amazing right.

Yeah. Though that's about their biggest strength lol. It'd be nice if they didn't die after getting sneezed on and if they could reliably hit something more than 2 spaces away. :P

I'd swap the Elite Hired Guns for a Wampa and a Beast Tamer. The rest of the last list looks fun.

Is bantha coming in time for store champs?

hmm. haven't tried a wampa yet. Could be fun, though two speedy figures sounds a bit more useful that one Wampa. Worth looking into though for sure. because wampa.

Yet another option.

I learned the hard way the other day that Echo Base troopers pack quite the punch.

Why no dengar? Are you purposely running so many squishies to try to grab objectives?

I think he's very cost efficient for scum lists and providesee a better alternative to 7 pt cannon fodder, even with 1 less figure

He might be a very good replacement for the Trandoshans. i haven't actually played with him yet. Trandos tend to die fast too. maybe dengar could fit in one of these lists.

Personally, if I'm building a Merc list, I tend to start with

13 Boba

1 Tempo Alliance

3 Gideon

2 C3P0

....19pts, and 21 more points to customize.

The difficulty until now has been finding 21 worthwhile points to use in the faction. The Wampa does look good...he can get up in the opponent's face while Boba flies around killing stuff but not dying himself.

I'm still not sold on the Hired Guns. Maybe the Regulars just for grabbing objectives (they're cheap and they're darn fast), but I don't think I'd use them primarily for offense. Think of them as Imperial Officers with some different uses (2pts per figure, don't do much offensively, but valuable to the squad tactically).

Maybe an Elite Nexu because mine have a sweet paintjob! :)

I've been trying to come up with something solid for Store Champs, that uses Boba. I just need more practice time.

You're on the right track here. Boba Fett is hard to take down, but he can't do it on his own. Focus support from Gideon Argus and C-3P0 are a good start.

After that you're looking for bodies to run objectives and contest terminals. Again, you picked out the best answer: Hired Guns.

From there, it's just about the best value per point. And that takes us right to Trandoshan Hunters.

Boba Fett, Trandoshan Hunters x2, Hired Guns x2, Gideon Argus, C-3P0, Temporary Alliance is a good list. A little Strain shenanigans, a few HP/cost efficient troops, and a few low cost objective runners/interference models to go with Fett.

EDIT: IGNORE ME! (I posted this list without resources, and it's illegal at 41 points.)

The worst thing about this list is that its 41 pts. I've been trying so hard to come up with something for those 21 points myself preparing for tournament but nothing looks good enough

That's what I get for posting at work without resources.

I guess we're looking at 3 Trandoshan Hunters then! I don't think that's the worst way to spend 21 points. 6 decently beefy guys who love to be up front.

Though I agree, even after your correction (thanks bud!) I'm not anything but whelmed by it.

21 points? Dengar (7), elite Nexu (6), elite Nexu (6), Punishing Strike (2)? A lot of synergy. Auto stun for one of your nexu each turn. You can even choose to use punishing strike with Boba in a pinch and turn his surge for weaken into a stun or bleed

or

Dengar (7), Explosive Armaments (1) on Dengar, Elite Tusken (7), Elite Nexu (6)? Dengar with explosive armaments sounds pretty interesting since he gets the auto surge if he's attacking someone with no harmful condition yet.

or if Bantha comes out before....

Dengar and Explosive Armamaments (8), Bantha Rider (9), hired guns/nexu (4)

or my personal favorite ;)

Dengar, Elite Nexu with Last Resort x 2 :D That sounds really fun! Exploding Kittens...Someone should make a game with that name...

The Regular Trandoshans and the Elite Tuskens are both great for 7 points each. Any three of them come for 21 points.

The Bantha can be stunned very easily, but he is a monster, when he has no harmful conditions.

The Wampa looks great, but I haven't had the chance to test him.

Just came back from store tournament. Half the people there running HK droids in both Empire and Scum list, top two places ran them. They start looking like autoinclude to me, Range is insane, and damage is quite good.

Regular or Elite HKs?

I tried this today:

Boba

Dengar

Gideon

3PO

eHired Gun

Hired Gun

Hired Gun

temp alliance.

A focused Dengar is AMAZING. After my two games I've decided I want to keep Boba, Dengar, Gideon, and 3PO.

That leaves me with 14 points.

I could just swap the two regular guns for a group of regular HKs.

Are they good enough to make up for losing four 5speed figures?

Are the Elite Hired Guns really worth it? I find it hard to believe that they are better than an Elite Nexu or something in that ballpark, hell even another regular HG and some nice upgrades.

??

I admit I haven't tried them though. But they don't come with that many more HP and still the lag of X.

Both elite and regular HKs are good. Regulars are cheapest way to get two 3 dice attacks, and elites has that magical "ignore figures" also those rerolls makes sure you will never see white pizza again

The extra evade makes them surprisingly survivable, and you'd be surprised how often they take 3 damage. An Elite would survive that while a reg would go poof. Finally with the extra evade, elites can actually hit targets more than 2 spaces away.

I wouldn't say they're "surprisingly surviveable" but they do live a bit longer than the regulars, but only a bit. They still struggle with hitting things farther than 2 away though when they hit they tend to do a little more damage.
