Kyle & X-Wings

By Scabiosus, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I will be playing at a local tournament at the end of the month, and here's my potential list.

I tried played with it a couple of times, and it wasn't too bad.

The plan is to stick close to Biggs in the beginning, using Jan to give him an evade token.
The Stressbot is there to help in case an ace or a large ship comes in sight.

An alternative to Kyle Katarn could be "Dutch" Vander, who'll be handing target locks instead of focus/evade tokens.

I only own one T-70, thus only one "Integrated Astromech".

Thoughts & comments are welcome!

Wingman doesn't really do much for you. Its timing is at the start of the combat phase, so it can't for example, help deal with the stress you get from either of your droids. It does help get rid of a stress after a k-turn, but I'm not sure that's worth the 2 points...

Also, you really ought to run moldy crow with kyle. Unfortunately, I'm not sure what you could do to make room for it. Dropping to blaster turret is not ideal. I guess Dorsal turret would work, but of course, not out yet...

I agree, Wingman isn't the most satisfying choice.

How about replacing Wingman with Cool Hand, so I can have a focus token to assign if I need to pull a red maneuver?

This leaves me at 99 points for initiative or I can give an R2 astromech to the Rookie Pilot.

How about R5-P9 for Biggs? Then you can use extra Focus tokens from Kyle to replenish his shields.

Yeah, cool hand would be at least more useful. I'd take the R2. This list doesn't need a bid.

I was thinking about posting a similar list when I saw your post. I think it fits your original idea for the list while matching the cards / ships you have.

Kyle Katarn w/ Moldy Crow, Twin Laser Turret, Recon Specialist

Garven Dreis w/ R5-P9

Poe Dameron w/ R2-D2 and Weapons Guidance

Total: 99 points

The idea is that you keep Darven and Kyle close to each other, as Garven is getting shot up you can use R5-P9 to heal up while sending those focus tokens to Kyle or Poe. Kyle can bank all that focus for you. With Poe should be able to get 2 or more focus onto him each turn so he can become extra defense or act as a hammer. If you feel it's worth you can even tag Poe with Draw their Fire to help keep Kyle alive.

Alternatively you can drop the TLR down to an Ion Turret and lose the Weapons Guidance to put a shield on Kyle but I don't quite find that to be worthwhile.
