Green stuff copies of the wing details, to cover up the flat area that used to be on the inside of the wings.

First coat of paint.

A coat of white (or a million coats rather) and a black wash.

Its hard to see on my crappy phone pictures, but my Tie Shuttle is white. a more movie accurate version should probably have been a very light grey, but I liked the idea of having all my shuttles in white and to further set it apart from the Tie Bombers.

All in all a really easy conversion to do, you don't even need to repaint the shuttle if you just reverse the wings.

Good idea and nice job.

Thanks I discovered the Tie Shuttle had different wings than the Tie Bomber in another thread I can't find now. So I had to do one a bit screen accurate.

It really didn't. It's on screen appearance is ambiguous as to the orientation of it's wings, and it's had several EU appearances where it's wings all appear identical to the Bombers. The only time it's ever shown to have reversed wings is in unused concept art.

I mean, it should be fairly obvious from the card art that it doesn't.

That's the entry in wookeepedia for the Tie shuttle:

Tie/sh shuttle

Nice conversion of the comic/concept-version, though....!

DarthEnderEX: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5tSa3xLVYgM&feature=youtu.be&t=22s If You watch this clip from Empire Strikes Back, you can see the wings are reversed. The shadows cast from the "tubes" that used to be on the inside of the wings are clearly there and you can see there is no middle solar panel. Blame Lazy modellers, but I am 99% sure of this. I am aware of all the EU stuff, but the movie rules above that for me... also It was a nice excuse to convert and repaint a model and have another Tie variant for the collection.

John Tenzer: I read the wookiepidia, I just hink the movie is above old EU... also people back then just did'nt notice the wing configuration, and I don't blame them :)

Doing a few searches I find that the TIE Shuttle shows up with stock wings and the flipped wings... so go with what you like I reckon.

This old Empire storyboard panel sealed the deal for me :)

Yeah you can see it... they are flipped.

:D

Btw the wookiepedia article mentions a yellow Tie shuttle with campain slogans painted on it, owned by an Ithorian mayor... Id anyone want's a different Shuttle ;)!

I like the conversion, lovely job. I'm going to get an extra bomber and give it a lambda style 'executive white' paint job I think, then it can double as an elite bomber when the need arises!

I've discovered a new TIE today. Thank you. The Wookieepedia image from ESB suggests the "extraverted" wings to me.

Superdave: You are welcome and I know how you feel, I also just discovered the Tie Shuttle.

@OP did you remove the bomb chute too?

I did, its bombing days are over.

Just like the Royal Guard Interceptor cards that lack the extra wing fins?

Uhh...the card has the fins.

Ouch. Make sure it wears the 'cone of shame' until it heals.

Love it! Might even try it out myself.

Wasn't talking about the title.

How do you know that's even a Royal Guard TIE and not just a red Interceptor? Since you can totally fly Royal Guard Pilots without the Royal Guard TIE upgrade.

Eh either way. Royal Guard TIEs aren't even canon, unless they have appeared in some comic books in the last few years. The TIE Shuttle is canon, right there on the movie screen since 1980. 'Reversed' wings and all.

I still dig the Char Pink Interceptors and Defnders though.

I disagree. I've yet to see an image that convinced me that it's wings were reversed.

Meanwhile, the thing has been in a half-a-dozen sourcebooks and technical manuals with completely normal bomber wings.
