5 FO's

By Backslide, in X-Wing Squad Lists

long time lurker first time poster. I hate blue on blue and mixing eras, so if its first order the most I'll add from the empire is a Lamda, get my 5th FO tomorrow, will be umpire at an event on sat thinking this will be my standby:

Omega Ace + Push the Limit 23

Zeta Leader + Push the Limit 23
Zeta Ace + Veteran Instints 19
Epsilon Leader 19
Zeta Squadron Pilot 16

am use to using at least 4 ships, and coping with lower pilot skill, this is a bit of a change for me with 3 at 7

Backslide, I am interested to hear the outcome of this build if you end up playing it. Another thread was discussing Juke as an EPT and I think that with each of these ties having evade it may be something you would like to consider.

I reference to your build I think that this team grouped up can melt almost anything. I have a 6 Tie/FO build that I wish to try so I am curious to see if the extra ship is worth it or should I just run 5 pumped up ties like your list.

Personally, I don't think 5 FOs do enough damage. I would try to fit in a 6th ship. Omega & Zeta aces would be the two that I cut to make it happen. YMMV.

make it 7 with slim guys

3 x academy tie fighter

2 x Epsilon squadron Tie FO

1 x Alpha squad interceptor

1 x Scimitar squad Bomber

I've been using this:

"Epsilon Leader" (19)
"Howlrunner" (18)
Push the Limit (3)
Epsilon Squadron Pilot (15)
Epsilon Squadron Pilot (15)
Epsilon Squadron Pilot (15)
Epsilon Squadron Pilot (15)
Total: 100

Zeta L + PTL = nonsense

can't use his ability while stressed; having to attach him to Ep L's hip does not help matters in the slightest

Predator is by far the most useful ept on him to re-roll those additional blank dice

finally, FOs have only 2 dice and need to do more damage to be relevant. This means Juke + Relay or Crackshot or Omega L/Zeta L. Eps L is only really useful for Tie swarms or weird builds atm. Build around those upgrades/pilots and you'll have a solid list

Like fickle above, I worry about your number of red dice. That being said, I really want 5 FOs to work somehow. Let us know how it works out. I'm not sure what the right EPT would be but I'm pretty sure PTL is not it.

Biggest problem I've had using 5 FO:

Epsilon Squadie = crack squadron Tie (15 points)

I've fit 3 routinely without issue, as a mix of OL (juke + relay), ZL (predator), and Omegas (juke + relay; crackshot)

They can go in as part of a 5 tie miniswarm, a 6 tie crackswarm, or with an elite such as carnor or redline

Problem is anything cheaper than 18 is more offensively capable as a standard Tie. Howlrunner is also VERY potent

Yeah, crack shot is probably the best way to make up for the lack of offense in a 5 FO list.

This is the best I can come up with:

Omega Leader w/ Juke + comms = 26

Howlie on crack = 19

3 omegas on crack = 18 x 3

99

Its 4 FO's + howlie, so not 'pure'. You could trade Howlie for Zeta Ace on crack to make it a true 5 FO list, but howlie probably helps more...

Last week I got to play a few games against Tie/FO pure lists:

I played against a 5 FO list, 1 with juke, 3 with crack and the lvl 12 guy until damaged. I got obliterated.

I played against a 5 FO list with various abilities, no crackshot and no juke, the FOs were easily dismantled.

Gotta get through dem greens. It's a problem all Tie Fighters face

well as it turned out I used this:

TIE/fo Fighter: · "Zeta Leader" (20) Push The Limit (3)

TIE/fo Fighter: · "Omega Ace" (20) Push The Limit (3)

TIE/fo Fighter: · "Epsilon Leader" (19)

TIE/fo Fighter: · "Epsilon Ace" (17)

TIE/fo Fighter: Omega Squadron Pilot (17) Crack Shot (1)

played 3 byes lost the first to 2x + poe very well flown by a young blood I got myself muddled and the green dice were never kind

dismantled a Y A B list, Zeta leader 1 shotted Jake after he bumped when I surprised him by holding formation, Omega Ace even finished off Bwing that was at range 2 with a direct hit

Last game was vs 2 Y666, boosk has become a personal nemesis when this guy uses him, been a long day game 4 for both of us we both made booboos but finished both of them off in the same turn at the cost of 2 FO's though both the top aces where on 1 hit point

the combo of Zeta leader + Omega Ace is very fun, Epsilon Leader was always the last guy targeted and as long as he was near Zeta leader it was brilliant.
