3D Printed Command Decks

By chriscook, in Star Wars: Armada

Do the decks fit sleeved cards too, or just unsleeved?

These look indispensable. I just bought 10 off your site :)

Hopefully more will be added soon. I've been lazy about it, but would really like to get some of these.

the ones I received only fit unsleeved cards but they're still nice

i just tried and ebay says the sale ended.

Thanks for the sales gents. We are starting to make more decks this weekend, and yes we will make them large enough for card sleeves!

Will Ebay be the only way to purchase them ?

At this point yes, but someone did mention going through shape ways. But I have not had time to look into it. What are the advantages to doing that? They are back up now.

Hey, because of high volume we are about 1 1/2 weeks from shipping the decks out after your purchase. We have even got a 2nd person printing!

ouch i just saw the new listing, 22$ canadian each. I don't think i can afford that

Anything new on if you'd be able/willing to offer the card/command side only?

Awesome work though, fantastic idea!

As of right now no, only because we r printing like crazy to meet all our orders. Please email me in a week and I will see where we are at. But it should not be a problem.

Anyone yet thought of doing these as a 2-part Acrylic Laser Cut-out?

The Base (bottom) layer would (could) be solid (no cut-out), about 1/8-inch thick, and any material you wanted (wood, rubber, acrylic, etc...) - even customer supplied.

The Top (Cut-Out) layer would (could) be 1/4 or 3/8-inch or so (or more), and would be Acrylic [thus the need for a Laser Cutter].

These could be any color you wanted (and could even include some custom etching logo's, ship pics, names, etc...)

Just glue Top layer to the Bottom layer...done.

This may be MUCH cheaper, and certainly MUCH faster to produce.

Thoughts?

There lies the problem, assembly and more chances for the decks to break. Remember, we offer bulk rates on the decks, just send us an email with the amount you want and we can lower the price a bit!

We are ready to start making more decks, get your order in and ask about discounts on bulk orders (4 or more)

We will have a bunch to sell at the tourney Sat!

Where will that be at?

I just got mine in the mail about two days ago, and honestly these trays make everything so much simpler, they keep everything so neat. These trays are definitely a game changer!

Had a great turnout at the Buffalo Store Championships. 14 people from 4 different cities. Congrats to Dano fro Syracuse!

My student and I are selling durable plastic Command Decks for easy transportation of cards and tokens during tourneys and general gaming. We are using the money as a fundraiser for our Tech department. Please go to ebay under Star Wars Armada Miniatures Command Deck.

We will combine shipping and ship up to 4 decks for $4. Please ask about bulk rates. Because of demand we don't have a back stock. These take 6hrs to print each and we will ship them out to you as soon as your order is printed.

Thanks

They look nice but I would be very concerned as it looks like a blatant unlicensed product you are selling as is. Selling for profit is a big big no no.

In no way shape or form do these violate any sort of copyright and if they even come close they are well within bounds of fair use and there are many versions of these kinds of thing sold by different parties all over the internet.

Custom trays for x-wing were actually heavily featured in FFGs OWN TWITCH STREAM from worlds.

I know you are trying to be helpful, you are out of your depth as an internet lawyer lol

Except you can't use someone else's trademark in your product name. You definitely do t want to call a product "Star Wars" anything. Armada might not be trademarked by itself, but easy enough to find out.

I would like to add that I got my 6 trays at the buffalo tournament, and i'm not saying that they helped me place top 3, but I never placed top 3 before in a tournament before i got these so... hahaha

They came in 2 parts (1 part for upgrade cards and 1 for the ship stuff) and this was great as you can use 2 of the upgrade card trays for heavily upgraded things like my typical ISD2s which is a kind of flexibility a lot of the wooden type trays do not have. Also they are much lighter than the wood ones.

My set came with a nifty lightweight frame that holds all the pieces in a handy cube.

Really, the only thing I would do to make these even better is have a version that has a little more play for sleeved cards.

If you are making an accessory for a game you have the right to identify the accessory as being for that game.

Go to Litko, corsec or any of the other accessory makers if you dont believe me. Its called fair use. At no point have they claimed to be affiliated or endorsed by FFG or LFC.

I know it's a subtle difference, but bear with me. Calling your product "Star Wars Armada Command Deck" uses at least two, perhaps three trademarks in your product name. Even if FFG doesn't go after you, Disney almost certainly will send you a scary cease-and-desist. And you are indeed violating their trademark. The Armada on the packaging has its own TM which means it is also being claimed as a trademark, although it is not registered as a trademark. This still gives FFG some legal rights. Listing an accessory as compatible with Star Wars Armada is likely to pass a real legal challenge, but you're going to risk unwanted attention to put it as part of your product name. This is a very simple trademark fair use guideline.

I'm not a lawyer, but I have worked for lawyers including in an office that did patent, trademark, and copyright management.
