If they made a rancor, it would have to be super strong. I mean, imagine a wampa and a rancor in a cage match:
The rancor picks up the wampa and eats it. The end.

Yeah, I'm thinking a 20pt piece or something awesome. Regeneration, automatic 2 Block, etc.
with the rancor...... hee hee hee.... want the rancor keeper too!
(bwa-ha-ha!)

Yeah, they should be almost instant death if one manages to grab you (and you don't have a big long bone handy). What about defence though? Should they be tougher than an AT-ST?

Yeah just thinking of it I can't imagine any figure could even scratch it besides an AT-ST or Vader. Maybe it rolls 2 black dice and has +3Block naturally lol.

I can see it having two black dice OR some built in blocks, but just like an AT-ST or Vader himself I think people should and will be able to focus it down. Or wait till it goes through a doorway.

Rancor
Creature
Cost: 22
Massive | +Cleave 3 | ~ Bleed | + 3Block | Reach
Brutality
Give it some sort of stomping ability.
Speed: 3
Health: 20
Defense: B
Attack: RRR
Lol something like that.
I can't wait to see how it actually ends up if they give us one for this game.
The average Rancor is smaller than an AT-ST... 5m vs the AT-STs 8m. Maybe a 2x2 Massive with stats like a cross between a bantha and wampa (stun, bleeding, cleave, trample, high health, no defense).

I still think that's way too powerful - how would that fare against 22 points of other stuff? You'd probably have a lot of incoming attacks each of which do no damage (and they need to do 20 damage), meanwhile you probably kill one per turn. I think they might have to sacrifice fluffy strength for gameplay (as I think they've done with the AT-ST).

Yeah I can't imagine the final product being thematic AND balanced. Gotta be one or the other, and obviously you've gotta go with balanced.
I could see it having no defence dice, like the Bantha. Maybe 2 Block with no defence dice?

Well, I could see it being both thematic and balanced...just gotta be costed right. If it needs to cost 27pts, then so be it...it costs 27.
For interest's sake I'd like to see what a balanced 35pt Rancor would look like.... I don't think such a piece would get used a lot in competitive play (I don't know how it would get a variety of objectives reliably), but I can guarantee you that it would be a pile of fun.
But a balanced and thematic 27pt Rancor? Yes, I'd play that. Dude...the Rancor and Boba! lol
Regardless of how the inevitable Rancor comes out, I am looking forward to it.
What if the Rancor had an ability that after it took a certain number of hits (half it's health it MUST attack at the end of the round on an unit adjacent. (So even your own guy if he's nearby)

Ooo I like that.
I love this idea. I want it and that weird fat guy to mind him.
While we're at it, where is my dewback mounted Stormtrooper? Tuantuans are a must!
This is getting me so hyped, I'm going to start a StarWars cover band called, Flock of Mynocks! I kid, I just want some mynocks for Imp Assault!
Joking aside, I really love what they've done so far with the creatures. I really hope we see more of the monsters.

Does anyone else think that it wouldn't be thematic at all for a rancor to cost 27 points (or anywhere near it)? This is a big monster, nothing more; it should be in the same ballpark as an at-st.

Yeah, the way these guys are talking makes it sound like Godzilla or something. It was a big, slow monster the size of an elephant. I can see it being a bit more dangerous than the Bantha since it has arms and is actually aggressive enough to make attacks, but that's it.

Well, the MAIN attack of the bantha is actually the rifle of the tusken riding it. In fact, the bantha has NO basic attack of it's own, just the specials. I would hope the Rancor has a decent melee attack, and it should top the red-red of the wampa, so probably three dice. I'm hoping for a new condition, like panic or something that it could inflict. Tired of bleeding and stunning, and I think the panic concept would be thematic and elevate the Rancor to its suitable rank as A#1 monster.

Panic: When any figure is adjacent at end it's activation to this figure, it receives 2 strain.

A real big boy that can mess up your squad just as much as it can mess up your enemy.
Just make it a merc and melee alternative to the AT-ST. Same cost, same basic stats. Replace Awkward with non-sentient. Give it Reach instead of Ranged attack. Replace Blast with cleave. etc.
EDIT: I don't see how a Rancor would be anymore terrifying to see than an AT-ST (which has multiple guns and grenade launcher) or DARTH VADER. If those things don't scare someone, I doubt a wild animal will.

Luke's eyes got pretty wide when the rancor came out. Yeah, he got weepy with Vader, but nothing else scared him in any of the movies. Rancor was supposed to be bad*** and terrifying.

ATST is an armoured military vehicle with cannons. I think if you're a soldier, and you see a tank? You think "Oh, that's a tank, time to deal with that".
When you're a soldier and a Giant Lizard bear comes out to you, well, that's when you freak out. I think the unexpected and uncontrolled is more terrifying than the expected and known. Also Boba has battle presence while no one else does, so, that logic is flawed.
Rancor

Creature
Massive
Reach
S: Stun, S: Recover 3
Stampede, Non-sentient
Devour: (2 actions) Perform two attacks, each attack must have the same target. During both attacks remove all dice from the targets defense pool.
Health: 26
Speed: 4
Defense: B
Melee Attack: RRY
Justification: Rancors are supposed to regenerate, hence the surge to recover. This also means that I don't want to give it 2 defense dice as healing is much scarier when it's so hard to do damage in the first place. Stun just makes sense for something so big. Devour and stampede together make kiting it essential.
Edit: Remembered non-sentient.

Tell that to the soldiers in WW1 and WW2. Pretty sure when they saw a tank they ran away to either escape it or scramble to destroy it. Not just say 'oh hey a tank, time to kill it' nonchalantly. Also, you ignore the fact that Darth Vader would be more terrifying. With a rancor you could just run into a building or trick it (its just a unintelligent animal). I'd say even Nexu are more terrifying since they could chase you indoors.
As for Boba Fett's battle presence. How do we know that loss of stamina is from people pooping themselves being near him? Maybe he just shoots his rope to trip anyone trying to escape. Thats how I interpret it since it only triggers on voluntarily leaving spaces near him. (Why would you piss yourself when running away but not standing near him?)
