Dual Aggressors 2.0

By Epixca, in X-Wing

I have basically everything I need to make a successful Bro-Bot squad! Does anyone have any good squads I can use? I mean, REALLY GOOD. I have lots of system, illicit, everything!

Personally I'm a fan of:

Predator

Ion cannon

Title

Adv. Sensors

Autothrusters

I mix it up a bit here and there, but that's usually the basic.

The most common is:

C and B with VI+FCS+HLC+ID+AT

This puts you at 98 points and will probably also win you the initiative.

B, then A or C

VI or Crackshot on both

Fcs

HLC

Inertial dampeners or Glitterstim (dampeners slightly better with VI for initiative)

Autothrusters.

There's 8 good lists.

I'm not so much a fan of Bro-Bots, ever since SableGryphon showed that there's more synergy to be had with one Aggressor and one Firespray.

The meta may have shifted around that...

Has anyone tried HLC, Sensor Jammer, Autothrusters, and a 1 point Elite Talent (VI or Determination), particularly vs TLTs?

There is a local guy who swears by using crackshot on the two of them

Kind of expecting our resident crack-head to pipe in with "You run dual aggressors with Crackshot and Black Squad Pilots, no exceptions", lol

Top seed at our last tournament took IG-88A and IG-88B each with

Crack Shot

Glitterstim

Autothrusters

IG-2000

Heavy Laser Cannon

Fire Control System

I believe it was the exact same IG-88 build that made it to top 4 during World Championships.

I've been trying to make a C+D, Advanced Sensors, Stay on Target list work. It's not been successful so far.

IG-88B

IG-88C/A/D, your pick

VI/Crackshot/1-ptr-of-your-choice

ID or Glitterstim

HLC

FCS

Autothrusters

Seems to be the current gold standard. It works well at blowing the everloving crap out of imperial aces on those elusive turns they're actually in arc, you see, and packs hefty firepower against anything else.

Don't underestimate the apparently small variation in 1pt EPTs, though - a game flying VI with Inertial Dampers will actually play noticeably differently from Crackshots with Glitterstim, and I'm not just talking about against PS7 opponents!

I'm a big fan of asymmetrical builds, as B is almost always the bigger target anyway. Also, taking an Ion cannon or autoblaster is always a fun route to go, but you said good, so I would go with B and D.

IGB: Mangler, ID, AT, FCS, VI (46)

IGD: HLC, Glitterstim, AT, FCS, Outmaneuver (52)

98

*Disclaimer: I just made this up on the spot, but that is the kind of build I would go for. It has a decent initiative bid, and both ships excel at killing different things. People will gun for IGD first, which is fine because IGB is the one you want in the end game anyway.

That list has been destroyed by the Crackshot/Glitterstim variant a few times locally. The VI/Damps list has been replaced by it now around here.

Yeah, the ability to spike damage as hard as possible pushes the jousting values through the roof - and brobot-on-brobot tends to involve a lot of jousting.

I'm not sure I'd prefer GlitterCrack builds against Dash, though...

It comes down to pilot skill in that mirror matchup, but the PS8 BroBots should win. The problem is that the PS8 BroBot player really needs to know what he is doing. 90% of regular BroBot players aren't at the next level of tactics to make it work and would be better off with glitterstim + crackshot.

I placed 20th at Worlds with I.D. + VI.

IG88-D (48)

Aggressor (36), Intimidation (2), Enhanced Scopes (1), Ion Cannon (3), Ion Bombs (2), Dead Man's Switch (2), IG-2000 (0), Ion Projector (2)

I'm also interested to see how sensor jammers does on brobots. It's more defensive than office without FCS, so I wonder if HLC and Mangler combo would be better to allow for some nice EPT upgrades/tech.

I would switch out D for A, just to make those rage kills even funnier, lol. I'm saving this list for one of my trololololol builds.

IG-88B + AdvS + Mangler + Inertial + AT + Predator (49)

IG-88C + AdvS + HLC + AT + Predator (51)

This is the best Brobots build right now, IMO. I'm about 85% wins with this list, and I've never lost to VI Brobots.

This list actually likes to move first, because between Pre-Boost+Evade+S-Loop or K-Turn, it has a huge number of places to go, with an evade token and a re-roll or two from Predator. I love playing it.

Oh, I forgot to mention: notice the point totals favor both ships in half-MoV.

In my experience success with a list comes down to pilot skill first, and then and familiarity with the list second. There are guys like Kinetic Operator that will just win 90% of the time against good players if you just give the guy a shoe box with wings. For what it's worth, while playing VI/HLC/FCS/ID/AT BroBots for over half a year, I never lost to any form of BroBots, and none of the games were even close. I did lose to VI BroBots once at the Massachusetts Regionals, while playing Outmaneuver/Lone Wolf. Lesson quickly learned.

I'm using B+D, Crackshot, AdvSens, HLC, AT, ID. Great fun to fly because of the AdvS and the 3 turn option. But the Boba/IGB list is more fun and better balanced imo.

Hey Dracon,

Can you elaborate? I've been out of the meta for a while and I haven't seen any Aggressor/Firespray builds.

Do you a list for example?

I've always been a fan of B&C with PTL, Adv sensors, Autothrusters, title and Mangler on B HLC on C.

It's had pretty good success over here in the UK (after winning the UK nationals in May) and while half ship scoring hurts it, it can still be a pretty tough cookie.

I have been playing the same list a few times and have to say it's the best brobots list I have seen so far. really love predator and the AdvS plus segnor loop gives you so many options... I'm now considering using crackshot instead of predator though and maybe use two HLC's and add two ID's..

IG-88B + AdvS + HLC + Inertial + AT + Crackshot (50)

IG-88C + AdvS + HLC + Inertial + AT + Crackshot (50)

I like symmetrical builds and that was the one thing that bugged me about the above list :) but that list is still very very good

Sable's list (which didn't update in Wave VII) was:

IG-88B + VI, Advanced Sensors, HLC, Autothrusters

Boba Fett + VI, Engine, Tactician, Proton Bomb

The traditional problem with Double Aggressors is that it makes Range Control very difficult. The Aggressor wants to fight at R3, with its 3 agility, HLC, Autothrusters, and fewness of ship all peaking at that range. However, it cannot slow-roll, so it is forced into an Engage-Disengage cycle, which is exploitable by your opponents.

Boba Fett, in this build, fixes that.

Proton Bomb adds insane damage (he dealt 6 damage to a Falcon with it in one of his write-ups, and that's not including all the times you can cripple Aces right out of the gate).

VI Fett is PS 10, which is also anti-ace to the Nth degree.

Tactician gives insane amounts of control, particularly when you factor in large ship PS 10 boost for range control.

And, of course, there's that pilot ability. And Firesprayness. Glory be, the Firesprayness.
