Dual Aggressors 2.0

By Epixca, in X-Wing

I definitely expect to see Tractor Beams find their way into Dual Aggressor lists. While it's true that the TB doesn't do direct damage itself, the ability to put an opponents ship on a rock could be a very strong option at a given point in a match. Self-preservation is one of the keys to flying Bro Bots. Putting a ship on a rock and then having your fellow bot take a shot at a reduced agility ship could offset a bit of that non-damaging effect.

It's certainly situational and there would be matches you wouldn't want to use it at all but at just a single point per ship in an otherwise empty slot it can be a great trick to have up your sleeve if the right opportunity arises.

Moving them from 2 to 3 to trigger AT while still shooting at them with HLC ignoring the range evade bonus + decreased agility sounds decent.

I use my 2014 and 2015 Regionals dice. I can't just abandon them ...

... can I?

I have done just that. I finally broke down and asked a friend to let me borrow his regular dice during a Winter Kit tourney. My dice luck turned around pretty quick.

It pains me to abandon my 2015 Regional Dice, but I'm tired of the handicap they brought since I started using them after last years Regional.

Is Adaptability (assuming you can take it as +1 PS for 0 pts on both ships) a worthwhile option? For example, when using HLC + Adv. Sensors, you could take Glitterstim + Adaptability instead of Inertial Dampeners + VI. How much of a difference is PS 8 vs. PS 7?

Attanni Mindlink (partially visible in the Punishing One photo) looks like it could also be an interesting EPT option depending on the cost. Looks like the text could be:

Each time you are assigned

a focus or evade token,

each other friendly ship with

Attanni Mindlink may also

be assigned the same type

of token if it doesn't

already have one.

Wouldn't be hard to get focus + evade every turn, especially with IG-88C. As long as both ships are alive, that is...

If that's how that card actually turns out, and each card isn't crazy expensive, there's a lot of cheap ships with EPTs that are going to be really fun. Have one Green Squad A-Wing PTL both tokens onto the rest of your squad.

Thinking about it more, I'm guessing it will be "focus or stress" rather than "focus or evade". And "must be assigned" rather than "may be assigned", of course. Makes more sense thematically, and with focus or evade it would be extremely powerful (as you described).

It would probably also be cheaper that way... maybe 1 point. Probably not worth it for dual aggressors, since it would be at best one extra focus token per turn between the two of them, and it would hurt a lot when using S-loops.

i am new and looking at this for a bot list

ig 88b+c

i am going for a tank / attack set up

ig-88b

title, sensor jammer, ion cannon, flechette cannon, autothrusters, accuracy corrector

ig-88c

title, ion cannon, flechette cannon, autothrusters, accuracy corrector, glitterstim, ion bomb

i am looking at trying to ion / stress people down atleast for 1 turn what do you guys think?

I actually just played something very similar to this last night. "Fill ALL the slots!":

IG-88B/C (36)
+ Ion Cannon (3)
+ Autothrusters (2)
+ Fire-Control System (2)
+ Flechette Cannon (2)
+ Glitterstim (2)
+ Ion Bombs (2)
+ Crack Shot (1)
+ IG-2000 (0)
It was a lot of fun. I like it better than HLC. People underestimate the power of control, because you're only doing 1 damage at a time. But denying your opponent actions and forcing their movement is incredibly good. One thing you can do that HLC can't is "double tap" with a cannon at Range 1 if your 4-dice primary misses. The Flechette Cannon and Ion Bombs on both give you a lot of flexibility in terms of making sure they're permanently locked down. The two things I think would make a big impact on the meta but still aren't played enough are swarms and control. Possibly worth looking into Advanced Sensors and Tractor Beam over FCS and Flechette once TB comes out.
