Guidance chips... Is ten numb the biggest winner?

By churchwarden, in X-Wing

I was thinking ten numb is now insanely good with guidance chip... Give him an ion torpedo and its an autohit ion everyone around target. 4 dice and the effect goes off regardless of what the defender rolls...

Because it would turn any result into a crit and his crit cant be cancelled, it would b a guarantee hit against a turtled soontir fel with stealth device at range 3 hiding behind an asteroid with the emperor in tow....how about cloaking device guri with asteroid? Still hits........

I'd at first dismissed Ordnance Ten: crit bypass only comes into effect when you'd otherwise miss which makes damage based ordnance inferior to the Mangler Cannon. It hadn't occured to me that he's effectively a torpedo version of Lieutenant Blount with Guidance Chips, and unlike Blount he gets two shots.

It's pretty fun but the best ten numb loadout is still probably not to take him because he's so expensive. If you really feel the need then vi+mangler and go hunt some aces.

It's hard for any ordnance build to compete with VI/Mangler in this meta.

If swarms get (or are) super popular in your meta. Yeah he will be pretty rad. Otherwise he's just neat.

Nera is also going to love Guidance Chip. Give her Deadeye and Guidance Chip and you will be able to change one eyeball and one blank while shooting at any target at R 2-3 without a TL. Oh, and give her Extra Munitions.

I'm not following, using Deadeye if you spend your focus to launch the torpedoes then you won't have it left to change anything?

Guidance Chip will let you change one result.

Slap on Proton Torpedoes and you end up being able to change up to two eyes, or an eye and a blank, into a double-crit. Statistically speaking, odds are very good for 4 hits, and 3 is almost guranteed. Wtih crits. With TLT board coverage.

She's obscenely expensive, of course, so it puts her into TLT-Horton-Salm regions of kill-her-first, but it's still cute.

Oh I thought we were talking about the ION Torpedo. Okay. And Deadeye eliminates the need to Target Lock without know if you can fire at them after all positioning is done.

Right?

This?

Nera Dantels (26)
Deadeye (1)
Advanced Sensors (3)
Extra Munitions (2)
Proton Torpedoes (4)
Guidance Chips (0)

Total: 36

While Ten's ability is cool, he is just too expensive, and has plenty of counters still. My money is on Tomax Bren: Mr. Infinite Crackshot. Proton Torpedoes, Concussion missiles, homing missiles, they all might as well have an undodgeable crit because of the mods and crackshot.

Ten Numb: VI, EM, Ion Torpedo, GC (38)

Tomax Bren: Crackshot, EM, Ion Torpedo, GC (32)

Tomax is cheaper and harder to kill because he has 2 agility, and gets crackshot until he dies = winner

... hm.

Nera (Deadeye, PTorps, EM, GC)

Horton (TLT)

Miranda (TLT, Chopper, Long Range Scanners)

99 pts, put the last point on whatever ship you fancy (Probably an R2 for Horton)

You now have three must-kill-quickly ships, and Nera is firing last - after no less that four TLT shots, at least two of which are extra-accurate.

Your games will be over... quickly. :) Watch for swarms, though!

Any ordnance carrier with Deadeye and Guidance Chip looks far better now.

I'd probably prefer another EPT to Deadeye. It's only a point, but it also doesn't do anything for you once the ordnance is spent. For that reason, FCS all day on Nera. Maybe pair it with Crackshot.

Ten with Ion Torpedoes will be a must-play in Epic, but I'd probably prefer Flechette or Plasma Torpedoes in Standard formats. Unless the target only has one point of shielding, his Plasma torpedo shot will be either a guarenteed crit or a minimum of two shields stripped from the target.

Nera will be dead when you blow your firepower

So just commit whole hog

Nonsense! They'll still have to kill Biggs first.

He actually wins the least

His ability works exactly as well with calculation or mangler for much cheaper

Not quite. Calculation requires that he have a Focus token, and also requires that his attack roll generated at least one eyeball. Mangler works on every attack he makes at all ranges and potentially allows him to use his action for defense, but only affects the primary target and has no secondary effects.

For the same price as a Mangler, Ten could load himself with two Flechette Torpedoes. Not only will they deal a guaranteed crit, but they also stick the target with a stress token if they have 4 hull or less.

For one more point, he could rock two Plasma Torpedoes, or a Plasma/Flechette combo. That'll help him whittle down targets like Corran Horn or Poe Dameron, who laugh at single critical hits.

There is one other option ive been looking at coming up in the wave.

Hera Syndulla - Ghost

- Proton Torpedo

- Extra Munitions

- Chopper

- Ezra Bridger

- Guidance Chips

- Fire Control System

Im sorry, is that a potential 3 Guaranteed Crits (depending on Dice rolled) after a K-Turn? Sure you take a hit using Chopper, but thats why FCS is there for the next turn.

Torps need locks; not exactly require ment free on a one action ship

Mangler is far more flexible

Ordnance should go on Nera or someone not so overpriced

Ive been tempted to pair the two. Ten using Plasma to strip out shields with that guaranteed hit, Nera to do the hull damage with Protons. Still leaves enough points for a decent third ship too.

Jake as a closer?

Jake as a closer?

Theres actually enough points to get in a Stresshog which is how my initial plan was looking.

He was made wrong and nothing will change that, he's a trap the unwary sink points into.

Redline with Chimps, Fire Control System, and Cluster Missiles is going to ruin someone's day. She hit like a truck before, now it is just silly.
