if you want the Palp shuttle to have a bit more survivability you can take jammers. then you can lose three points to bring Jax to Omega leader with Juke and Comms not quite the 'ace killer' jax is,, but can be equally as potent late game.
Thanks for replying! I have tried that combo with OL, and I wasn't too impressed with how he performs as a part of what is basically a two-ace list. He seems to function better as a back-up ace. Plus, putting sensor jammer on the shuttle would put me at 100 points, so that means no initiative bid for Whisper.
I don't really like Kallus on Whisper. She already gets lots of focus, so doesn't seem very efficient. I'm a big fan of rebel captive on her...

my 'go tos' for whisper are RC for avoiding ace fire, and gunner for dat glass cannon. and int agent if im on a budget, but if im that hard pressed i usually drop to echo with Rec spec or int agent for init.
Curious, I was thinking of taking this to my next tourny:
Palp-shuttle- 29 pts
Rex + VI + twin engines- 39 pts
Jax + PTL + title + engines + thrusters- 32 pts
Total = 100 pts
"You're running a defender without a cannon?! Heresy!" (Some would say.) Hang on, hang on. Let me explain. I put the defender in my list in place of the usual Vader. I get in return: 3 (natural) attack, +1 shield, the infamous white 4 k-turn, PS 10, and all banks green. I find this a great improvement in a meta shifting towards stress-inducing mechanics. (Stress-bot y-wings, and k-wings + tacticians) Also, I actually like Jax at PS 8. He does what he does, namely be a pain in the ass. Block higher aces + his ability = nasty.
Edited by jblum23for 39 points you can run Vader VI Prockets title ATC and EU and will have 1 point initiative. if you're that concerned with the PS 10 why not PS 11 (personally i'd take crackshot, but if VI poe is dominating your meta, go for it. granted you 'lose' 1 red dice, but in return you get better action economy and an auto critical every turn... if you're that worried about stress you can take MK2 instead of EU, but then i'd drop prockets for a 5 point missile
Kallus is on Whisper to help with those annoying Poe's/other people higher PS than Whisper (can't get the focus if I don't hit or don't shoot first). Even with only two green dice, if I can get an evade token, that almost guarantees 3 evades with the help of Kallus, Emperor, and an evade token. Kallus also helps on offense with a minifocus against his target so I can evade each turn and still help offense.
Int Agent is the other one I have thought about. Gives almost pre-errata mobility and is a point cheaper for a 98 point bid. Tough decision...

True, true. I guess the biggest difference would be the stress-inducing meta (namely, the stress-bot y-wing). Vader is HIGHLY dependent on actions (HATES being blocked or nailed by the stress-bot) whereas the defender can still k-turn and has a lot of good green maneuvers to choose from.

Also, going back to the OP, Whisper is also HIGHLY dependent on actions as well. Let's face it, Paul Heaver said every rebel pilot should put the 26 point stress-bot y-wing in their list. It's something we'll have to learn to deal with when list building.

Okay, I can see that, but rebel captive does essentially the same thing. I guess the tradeoff is rebel captive doesn't seem to help the first turn someone shoots at you (because they got you in arc already, but once stressed, its unlikely that high PS ace will get whisper in arc again until they clear the stress). Kallus is a point cheaper and would make Whisper tankier, but only works against one enemy ship...

I think he was speaking a bit hyberbolic. There are actually good rebel lists that don't have the stress hog. Its not like, auto-include...
Besides, TIE/D ion defenders are going to make the stresshog almost useless (well after it shoots once), so we shall see how long it remains a dominant meta choice...
